So, I just got a new puppy. Her name is Sookie, after the main character in the Sookie Stackhouse Novels. We already had a family dog, but we didn’t get her as a puppy. I have to say that Sookie is bonding very well, like a furry little child. I worry about her a lot, her health, her needs. One question when I go to the store is, “Which Food?”
I literally just discovered that there is a brand of food called Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul. What a mouthful! It is made with four kinds of meat, all of which are purchased from food grade suppliers and are certified hormone and antibiotic free. There are no chemicals used to preserve their formulas. Instead they use mixed tocopherols (vitamin E) to preserve the chicken fat in our pet foods. The added ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and rosemary extract in some of the formulas also have preservative effects.Plus, Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul Dog Food is one of the approved dry dog foods by the Whole Dog Journal.
The Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul brand has products for dogs and puppies, cats and kittens. The Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul website also provides a wealth of information for pet lovers and owners. For example, puppies are just
like babies. They need to be fed often and get cold easily.
I suggest checking out their website if you are interested in health and general care tips for your pet. Plus, decide is the Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul brand is right for your furry friend!

One winner here at the Mom Buzz will win a sample bag of the Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul (winner’s choice of variety), a copy of Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul (the book) and a $30 gift card to PetFoodDirect.com!

I learned bloat is caused by rapid gulping of the food (because much air is swallowed during eating), exercise right before eating, and exercise right after eating.
I learned (although from experience with my daughter’s dog rather than from anywhere else) that this food is one that Great Danes can completely process–they seem to have some form of gluten intolerance, and feeding them foods with corn, wheat, etc. is not a good idea.

Diabetes is an endocrine disorder that is more common in overweight dogs and cats (just like people!).
I like that they have a Senior Dog formula for my 10 year old dog. It says it helps reduce plaque on his teeth which has been a problem for awhile now.
