Holiday Guide: Stuff the Stockings with Good-For-You Treats!

probioticbarsSometimes you have to wrack your brain with what to put in a stocking. You can go the route of sweets and treats, but you know that EVERYONE will be gobbling those up before breakfast … even your husband. So how about stuffing the stocking with something a little healthier? One idea is Probiotic Bars. I know, it sounds too healthy! But with flavors like Chocolate Chip and Yogurt Fruit & Nut, no one will really notice! And you know that you are giving them a great gift – a happy belly!

You see, these bars have probiotics in them. Probiotics are “good” bacteria that promote a healthy digestive tract and boost your immune system. Most commonly you will find them in yogurt. But Pop Culture Probiotics have 10 times the amount of live culture as yogurt. And unlike other probiotic bars on the market, you do not have to refridgerate these. So Santa delivering them overnight is A-OK. And you can store them in a cabinet, rather than a fridge. Trust me, that’s a huge bonus when your fridge is packed with other essentials.

My family received some bars as samples to try from Pop Culture Probiotics. Three out of Four of us favored the Chocolate Chip Granola Bars over the Yogurt Fruit and Nut Bars. But we ate all of them. Ha! We aren’t too picky … except for my oldest son. He doesn’t like granola bars at all right now, probiotics or no probiotics. I really loved how I could just throw the bars into my purshomepage_chocbare or diaper bag and run on a playdate or errand, knowing I had a snack for the boys, my husband and myself whenever we wanted one.

Each bar weighs 1 ounce. The Chocolate Chip Granola Bar has a generous amount of chocolate chips and is 110 calories. It has 2 grams of fat, 0 mg of cholesterol, 55 mg of sodium, 6 grams of protein and 18 grams of carbs. It also provides 15% of your daily recommended value of folate and 10% of calcium. The Yogurt Fruit & Nut Bar has cranberries, almonds and flazseed in it. It tastes “healthier” according to my husband’s office. I sent some over there for them to trry. These all natural bars have 3.5 grams of fat, 0 mg of cholesterol, 55 mg of sodium, 6 grams of protein and 18 grams of carbs. These also provides 15% of your daily recommended value of folate and 10% of calcium.

One Buzz Reader will a box of Chocolate Chip Bars and a box of Yogurt Fruit and Nut Bars.
There are 15 bars per box, for a total of 30 bars. Plenty of bars to stick in everyone’s stockings!

What makes Bacillus Coagulans different from other strains of probiotic bacteria? The ingredient, Bacillus Coagulans is surrounded by a natural protective shield. This protective layer helps it survive the heat and pressure of manufacturing and the acids in the stomach in order to arrive alive, active and intact in the intestines their intended target. Other traditional probiotics, such as bifidobacterium and lactobacillus, do not contain this protective outer shell.
