Holiday Guide: Chuck my Talking Truck – Win

tonkaMy little man, 2 years old, is a typical little boy when it comes to his “loves”. Pretty much I can sum it up in three words – trucks, trains and dinosaurs. Needless to say, we are a Tonka house. We have a ride-on Tonka truck, two Strong Arm Tonka Trucks and countless mini Tonkas. Right now, though, there is a hot new Tonka toy that has a lot to say this Christmas – Chuck My Talking Truck.

Chuck My Talking Truck is fully motorized with over40 phrases and sounds. To hear him talk all you have to do is lift his dump bed, push his bumper or press the top of his head. He is SUPER SENSITIVE. It’s almost like he starts interacting with me when I just reach out and touch his “aura”. And if you thought that was cool… there is MORE. He has sound recognition technology and will actually roll forward when he is called! That’s more than my kids do! (haha)I tested it out and would try to fool him by saying Buck and Duck – but nope, he only responds to Chuck. Sometimes he responds IMMEDIATELY. Other times I have to use a firm voice to get him to roll. You can see what I mean in the video below.

Some of his 40 phrases include:

“We’ve got work to do!”

“Let’s Get to Work!”

“Time to find some dirt!”

But now I am about to sound like an informercial, because…

Wait, there’s even more cool things Talking Chuck does! He comes when called, he talks with over 40 phrases and sounds AND he has personality as he wiggles his bumper and dump bed as he gets excited and on a roll! And he doesn’t roll only in a straight line, he will turn and twist to surprise you as he moves in different directions. And he is quick. I am not ready for him all the time as he starts rolling towards me. But the boys find the whole thing hilarious. My oldest just laughs and laughs. (He is 3.5 years).

Even though he is so interactive, he is still sturdy enough to take on any job that a toddler or preschooler can come up with. Chuck is suggested for ages 3 and up, but my almost 2 year old also loves him. Chuck is withstanding the love of both boys and is right at home with the Strong Arm Tonka Trucks, toting super heroes and dinosaurs around the house. I haven’ let Chuck out in the sandbox yet, because I don’t like battery operated toys outside. They just don’t like it! But he rolls with the best of them inside.

Overall, I think if you purchase this for a 2 year old, they will get years of fun out of it. It invites imaginative AND interactive play. It doesn’t do all the “imagining” for them, like some other powered toys. Instead it seamlessly joins the adventures they come up with, with a few surprises in his truck bed.
