Holiday Gift Guide: My Little Pony

I remember when I was a little girl, I had a My Little Pony named Majesty who had her own castle and even a little purple dragon. She was definitely my favorite, along with a yellow one called Windy. I had more than that, but the castle and those two were just unforgettable and provided hours of play as I used my imagination to create storylines. Plus, I loved combing and braiding their mane and tail!

Well, even though I have two boys, I can see through my niece that things haven’t changed too much in the past 2 or 3 decades. Girls love ponies. And right now My Little Pony is introducing a whole new look to its core cast. The ponies from my day were sturdy, which I LOVED. Now they look like dainty little ponies with huge eyes, bright colors and fun-filled hair styles. These ponies include Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Toola-Roola, StarSong, Sweetie Belle, Cheerilee and Scootaloo. Sweetie Belle is the youngest pony in the group, so she is the smallest. But I received adorable Cheerilee for my niece to try out.

I wish I still had my old My Little Ponies to put next to her! The difference is astounding! But my niece never grew up with those and she just loves combing Cheerilee’s hair and having her join the rest of her My Little Pony herd. Cheerilee is a sparkly purple whose hair is shades of pink and white. She comes with an activity book and comb, so she can maintain her fabulous look!

I have my eye on Sweetie Belle’s Gumball House , which is shaped like a gumball machine and has two levels of fun. There is a kitchen, an elevator with music, bedroom, balcony and more. This house does require three AAA batteries, so plan ahead! I always like to keep batteries in-stock at home … especially around the holidays! And if you are shopping for a My Little Pony playhouse, you might also want to consider Pinkie Pie’s Playhouse, which also has 2 floors of fun.
