Holiday Guide: My Pal Scout and My Pal Violet

So I have a little nephew that I am shopping for this holiday season. I already have a super ride-on toy for him to help develop his motor skills, but I wanted something educational, as well. Well, My Pal Scout is a perfect gift idea for little ones. It’s suggested for ages 6 months to 3 Years. After playing with My Pal Scout I think that the age range is “right on”. He is more than a cute, plush toy that sings. You can CUSTOMIZE him to make him so much more.

I like My Pal Scout because he is plush, with no pieces to pose a choking hazard. Everything is embroidered on, from his eyes to the designs on his paws. He is soft and cuddly, just what you want in a plush friend. Plus, he personalizes learning, since you can customize Scout to know your child’s name, favorite food, animal and color! He will even SPELL your child’s name!

Like most LeapFrog toys, you can connect him to a computer to customize his music and lessons, as you download songs from an online selection. A USB cord is included! Then you just press a paw to play music, games or sing songs. Scout will help your child obtain first words, learn daily routines, discover numbers, express feelings, and learn about animals.

The lullaby option is really neat, since you can choose how long to play the bedtime music – 2, 5 or 10  minutes. I think he would be a great part of any bedtime routine.

At one point this Scout Pal was sold with decals on his paws, but the new version has embroidered paws which is a lot safer for babies and small children. I know my own little one is quite a mouthy kid and still sticks things in his mouth at almost 2. So you want that safety feature, where nothing can be removed from the toy.

If you are shopping for a little girl, you may be interested in My Pal Violet. She does the same things as My Pal Scout, but is a gorgeous violet color.
