Holiday Guide:Stuff a Stocking with Bendaroos

Ages ago I buzzed about Bendaroos. They are colored, wax strings that will stick together and can be formed, twisted and cut to create amazing little figurines that your kids will love. It inspires creativity and assists with hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Since my oldest son was not quite 3 when we got them, I had to do most of the building. One of his favorite creations was this gorilla.

I needed scissors and other “extras” to make it. For the gorilla you need aluminum paper which you shape like a pear. Then you cover it in the colored string wax – our Bendaroos- and add some legs, arms, chest, eyes, mouth, nose, etc – and here is my gorilla. Not bad, right?

When you get your Bendaroos, you will find instructions to help you make creations like the gorilla. Want to see more? Check out this commercial to see how it works!

Here are a few other things I tried making back them. A goose. This one I only needed scissors to cut the feet into the correct length. But the directions were real easy to follow.

Finally, I made a dragonfly, which my oldest was THRILLED with. This one also only required scissors to cut the legs into the right length.

Ideas_Mermaid_MainThere are more design ideas at BendaroosFun.com. You can learn how to build a mermaid, dolphin, monkey or monster! I think the best thing you can compare Bendaroos to is Play-Doh. If your child loves Play-Doh, they will love Bendaroos. I think moms might love Bendaroos more because there is LESS CLEAN-UP! Honestly, when we were done I just packed the wax strips back up in their plastic bags, put those in the box and we were done.

But, the creatures don’t hold up to rough play. The poor gorilla lost his arms repeatedly and the dragonfly got squished. But my kids are REALLY rough with them and my 1 year old got his hands on them too! But I think older kids can keep their creations going longer.

Overall, Bendaroos are a lot of fun and I think they make a great stocking stuffer for Christmas … or just bring them out and surprise your kids on a rainy day!

You can order Bendaroos from their website for $19.99.

One Buzz Reader will a 500 Mega Set of Bendaroos – that’s more than a stocking stuffer!
