I have been buzzing GeoTrax products since last holiday. Honestly, if you have a boy between 2 and 7, they will love these beginner railway sets. They are all easy to use, assemble, many have remote controls and they are affordable! You can keep your set small or add to it with more tracks, sets, trains, etc. Plus it’s a Fisher-Price brand, which means the customer service is exceptional.
Our first set was a gift from my sister. It was the Grand Central Station. You can read my entire review at the Mom Buzz for the Grand Central Station. The synopsis is that it is a train station, a train, a remote control and three little people. You can assemble the tracks in many ways – and my son and I definitely test our imaginations with how we twist and turn everything for maximum enjoyment. My oldest has been playing with the set since his second birthday. He would wake up first thing and rather than get me, he would just start playing. You can see the train in action here:
When my second son came, so did the arguments. Both wanted to control the train with the easy-to-use remote control. So I am extremely thankful that we received the Remote Control Timbertown Railway from Geotrax (pictured above/left and below/right). The set is unique when compared to other GeoTrax sets since this one has an “Easy Rail Station”.
See, sometimes my little one has trouble getting the train on the track exactly. With the the Easy Rail Station we can place the train on the orange part of the track and the wheels will automatically line up with the track.
It’s an exciting track as it goes around curves and up a hill to a mountain. This GeoTrax train has a smokestack that “puffs”, which is different than the sleek one my other son owns. Plus, it comes with a crane to pick up logs.
The GeoTrax Timbertown Railway includes Steamer and Samuel™—the hardest working team in GeoTown™! (They are the Steam Engine and poseable figure). You also get an Easy Rail Station, Elevation Mountain with tunnel and working crane, Remote Control, classic Steam Engine, Caboose, poseable figure, block of wood, and 15 pieces of durable, Snap-Lock™ track. The system requires 6 AAA batteries (3 for the controller, 3 for the train). I notice that I change the batteries in the trains a lot more than I change the batteries in the control. You can see a demo on their website.
If you love these trains, you have to check out the GeoAir High-Flyin Airport and Remote Control (RC) planes. I really love the trains, since you can control them even off the tracks. But the GeoAir just looks SO COOL!
Speaking of cool, I recently saw that GeoTrax teamed up with Pixar Cars! You can get a set with a remote control Lightening McQueen as he drives around Radiator Springs. This is on my holiday list for the boys! Plus, you can purchase some of your kid’s favorite characters seprately, like Mater, Doc or Flo! Too cool!
And don’t forget, there are plenty of Remote Control Trains and Planes that you can purchase separately. There are also non-remote control trains and cars – but I like the Remote Control ones. They are the Mom Buzz picks and preferences!
