My son’s new, must-watch movies are ones I can’t complain about – they are part of the collection from Leapfrog’s Learning DVD Set which includes Let’s Go to School, Letter Factory and Talking Words Factory, plus 26 Alphabet Flash Cards. We actually already own Let’s Go to School, which is mom-approved. But it is Letter Factory and the Talking Words Factory, plush the flash cards, that make this DVD Set a Runaway Success!
Let’s Go to School follows Lily and Tad as they are about to start school the next day. Their friend the firefly (Edison) gives them a tour of the classroom and they both learn lessons and teach lessons to common classroom toys and tools – like the clock, building blocks and toy animals. Along with small lessons on phonics, counting, days of the week and animal families, the boys also enjoyed the fun songs that helped develop these concepts! Even though my oldest doesn’t start preschool until next year, it still had valuable lessons for him! After all, it’s made for children 3 to 6 years old. You can read my full review of here at the Mom Buzz: Let’s Go to School Review.
Letter Factory is the first time that my sons have seen Leap, Lily and Tad’s older brother. In this video their father is going to give a tour to a book publisher, hoping he will purchase their talking letters. While preparations are made for the tour, Tad goes on his own tour with Professor Quigley learning the different letters and the sounds they make. It’s quite catchy and I sing along! The combination of letters, sounds and colorful imagery have made this video a complete success and my son asks to watch it over and over and over. Plus, the complementing Flash Cards that came with the set help build-upon the concepts and sounds that are introduced in the video. Letter Factory is suggested for ages 2 – 5.
Talking Words Factory is the second-most requested DVD from this set, behind the Letter Factory. Leap, Lil and Tad are on a journey to understand how letters are combined to make words. They learn that the vowels are what stick words together and make them work. And your kids will learn about rhyming and simple words that sound alike! There are great songs to sing a long to, as well. This video is suggested for ages 3 – 6.
DVD Bonus Features include sing-along songs, interactive alphabet book, an alphabet game, a word game and a sneek peek at Math Adventure to the Moon.
Overall, I think the set is AWESOME. It’s a great way to build upon letter and word concepts for preschoolers. The running time is 105 minutes (35 minutes each) and the whole set is perfect for kids between the ages of 2 to 6.
After watching the DVDs and seeing the power of the combination of the included Flash Cards and Tad DVDs, I am more interested in getting the Leap, Lily and Tad games for my sons’ Leapsters. There are two that I am aware of – Kindergarten and 1st Grade. I think they will help build more connections in their little, growing brains! I honestly think that LeapFrog offers the best educational DVDs and products for kids.

how great is that that is a fantastic tool for preschoolers. My son learns so much off the television the other day I heard him singing his abc’s he knows all of his colors. Nice to have good learning tools and Leap Frog always comes out with the best tools for that too
