Where to Go for Toy Tips

Where can you go for tips on holiday toys? Well, yes, the Mom Buzz is a super place to start! But the Toy Industry Association (TIA) has recently launched two awesome websites that can help you research the right toy for the children on your list.

ToyInfo.org

About the site: Designed to provide you with the tips you need to choose the right toys for your family. It includes toy safety facts, free downloadable play guides, recall information and a discussion board. This site is intended to be engaging and informative – a one-stop resource for caregivers and parents to discover everything about toys and playtime.

My thoughts: The site is easy to navigate and provides valuable information. You can learn valuable information, like how to play with your child. Trust me, from some discussion boards I’ve learned it does not come naturally to all parents. I think it has valuable links and information, allowing you to sign up to receive recall notices of toys and safety tips. You can even check out their blog and discussion board from their conversations tab.

ToyAwards.org

About the site: Here you will find the top toys (81 and counting) nominated for the 2010 Toy of the Year Awards. Parents can discover which toys experts feel are top picks, plus kids and parents also have a say. Plus, you can register to win a choice of one or more of 11 prize packages.

My thoughts: I think both ToyInfo.org and ToyAwards.org have useful information, but I favor ToyAwards.org. I love how you can see the top picks by category, including Boy Toy of the Year and Girl Toy of the Year. Youc an even download a shopping list of the products on the site. From the Educational Category, two Mom Buzz picks were featured, including the Zippity and LeapFrog Tag Jr! And from Preschool there were also two Mom Buzz picks – Chuck the Talking Truck and Bilibo! And an Imaginext product was also featured, and I am a BIG fan of Imaginext. So it’s great to see that I am on the same page as the site.

Overall, both sites are worth checking out and bookmarking. Definitely sign up for the Toy Recall alerts at ToyInfo.org. And go print out a shopping list from ToyAwards.org! The only thing that would make both sites even better was if you get alerts and news via Twitter and Facebook!

I suggest bookmarking these sites for the holiday shopping season! Feel free to check them out now and let me know what you think!
