I have been pounding my head on a wall for a gift idea for my dad. What to get? What to get? I could always fall back on a book or movie, which is easy enough. There are plenty of movies he’d love to own and books he’d like to add to his collection… but those are my fallback ideas when my mind goes blank. I tried to find it on their website, but couldn’t. Too bad, but they do have other great inspirational mousepads if you are looking. Anyways, they now have a DIY Personalized Art link that you can visit to personalize some of their most popular images with quotes you love and even a personal message to the recipient.

First I checked to see if my husband wanted anything in his office. He said he had no wall space. So I put on my thinking cap, started looking through the pictures (you can look via category) and found some amazing images that just screamed “Dad”. Maybe not your dad, but my dad. There were Wolves, Tigers, Horses, Hawks, Eagles – things that just represent everything my dad stands for. I decided I loved the Eagle, as it screamed American Pride and my dad served in the Navy.

Next I had to decide on a quote. If you are stuck on a quote, they do have a few options you can choose from. But I decided on a quote that is attributed to John Wayne:

Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.

Then I added a personal message from the family to my dad. No, I will not tell you what it says! It’s personal. Although, it will be on a wall somewhere for all to read!

Overall, from design to delivery, my DIY Successories Experience was perfect. This is a new concept offered by this 25 year-old company and I think it is pretty much flawless. I would like to see in the future an option to upload your own photo, though. That would be so cool, especially at these prices to have it professionally framed, matted and personalized!
