Zing Toys: Win a Zyclone

A few weeks ago my husband, boys, nephew, friend and me had a blast playing outside at my parent’s house. That’s because we were armed for fun, thanks to Zing Toys. Zing Toys specializes in active-play toys. Their mission is to constantly create new and innovative products which will compel kids to turn off video games and the television and get outside and play, promoting a healthy lifestyle! And face it, us adults need to get away from the computers and get out and play, too!

Just in time for Christmas, they are releasing one of their newest toys – the Zyclone. It is a cool ring blaster that shoots a foam ring that glides in a straight line for over 100 feet (if used correctly) using the power of science! You can see it in action on the Zingtoy’s YouTube Channel. Well, that new toy is what we got to try out. I took it out of the box, read the directions and we went outside. It comes with a “ring blaster” and a “Zing-ring”. You place the Zing-Ring on the Ring Blaster, with the orange ring facing out. (I made the mistake of doing it the other way, and it only goes like 20 feet when you do it wrong). Then you pull back and twist the handle of the Ring Blaster. Then it flies….

First we were just shooting randomly. Eventually we started getting brave, trying to shoot the rings on each other’s arms. It was loads of fun. My nephew was pretty good at shooting. My own boys are 3 and 2, so they didn’t have the strength needed to pull back the cord, twist and shoot.

Overall, anything that makes all ages laugh and play outside is a great toy. It’s the type of item I would bring to grandma’s to keep the kids entertained in the backyard for hours. It was pretty durable, I could see it lasting a good year with rough play.

You can buy Zing Toys everywhere, from small mom-and-pop toy stores up to REI, Toys R Us and Dick’s Sporting Goods. But the Zyclone is so new that it would be easiest to purchase it at Amazon.com right now. I saw it there for $29.99.
