iCarly: iErin :hearts: Sam’s Remote Control

I am sure most moms know what iCarly is, but just in case here is the lowdown. iCarly is a top-rated, live-action show on Nickelodeon. It follows the life of Carly, a smart and sweet middle schooler, who creates a hit webshow where kids can do and say anything they want, essentially empowering individuality! Carly runs the webshow with the help of her two best friends, outspoken Sam and their technical producer Freddie, who also happens to be in love with Carly. iCarly is the first live action kids’ show to use user-generated content sent in from real kids on iCarly.com, and is the perfect show for web-savvy kids (and moms).

I don’t even have kids old enough to get or watch iCarly – I know about it because my mom turns it on when we visit her house on Sundays. Hilarious. So all the adults get sucked in while the kids ride their Power Wheels. My sister and I love the humor in the show, and as the owner of the Mom Buzz I totally get the “online” aspect of it. I could only dream of being so popular though! Still, the show really hits home for today’s trendy and creative kids. To get kids even more involved, Playmates Toys has created a Fall 2009 line of collectible vinyl figures, interactive playsets based on locations from the actual show, 10” fashion figures, and even several gadgets inspired by Carly’s webshow.

One “authentic” gadget from the iCarly Fall product line is Sam’s Remote. For fans of the show, this is the ultimate Christmas gift! Just like Sam’s actual remote on the show, Sam’s Remote comes pre-loaded with the same sounds featured on iCarly – Applause, Booing, Random Dancing, and hilarious, random sounds! – so everyone can imagine themselves on set with Carly, Sam, and Freddie! Yes, I mean everyone. First off, my boys love the iCarly Remote. My oldest will push Random Dancing and we will all boogie. Or if I say something clever – which is always – I just push the applause button. I even brought the remote out to the Twilight Premiere to boo Team Edward fans. Heehee. Thankfully, my friends were all on the same page and everyone found it hilarious – even if they were boo’d. I just had to explain that I had a new toy from iCarly!

Let’s talk basics. The remote is blue and rectangular. It measures 2.5″ x 7″ x 1″. There are 4 stars with red button-like bumps – but they don’t do anything. Then there are 4 square buttons that say Applause, Boo, Random Dancing and Sound Bytes. Applause and Boo are self-explanatory. Random Dancing is just a quick little song to move and groove too. Sound Bytes makes various sounds – like a bounce, duck, drums and horn. The iCarly logo is on the top of the remote. There is an off/on switch on the back. But who wants to turn off the fun?

Overall, it has a lot of appeal to tweens … and older. I am having a blast with it and love to take it everywhere in my tote! You never know when someone deserves som applause or booing! Definitely seek it out as a stocking stuffer or gag gift! You can purchase it at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us and Kmart. iErin Loves Sam’s Remote Control.
