Every few weeks I try to encourage you (and myself) with my Mom Buff body posts. Why? I want to prove to everyone that anyone can transform their body into something they are happy with. I know that over the past 6 months I’ve started to feel a lot more comfortable with how I look!
Well, the thing is, my only obstacle with getting fit was being the primary caregiver of my children. I have little spare time to run to the gym, making me work out at night. YAWN! But it’s worth it! But one of my readers shared (Shelly from Women’s Life Link)with me an AMAZING story. I got her permission to share her news on the Mom Buzz.
First off, she wants to compete in Figure, just like me! She is going to start training in Jauary 2010! She said that having FIVE kids is what delayed this goal of hers, but now her son Eli is going to help her reach it. And this story is actually about Eli.I am going to paraphrase the information that Shelly sent me.
Eli suffers from severe food allergies and excruciating digestive issues. He has undergone evasive medical testing, had severe vomiting, and even emergency room visits due to food allergies. It turns out not all manufacturers list every ingredient. One of his deadly allergies is corn and a few years ago at a bodybuilding competition he was given an energy drink. He read the ingredients, determined it to be safe, but after drinking it he began to vomit severely and had to be rushed to the E. R. It tuned out there was a corn derivative in the drink.
Even through all of these problems, he has kept a 3.0 at VCU, maintained a part-time job, trains for his competitions and has mastered body building organically. He understands his food down to a science as far as their natural chemical make up and their performance alone and in combination with other foods.
Most recently Eli was very ill with a digestive disorder, so he only had 6 weeks to train for an Excalibur competition the weekend of December 5th. These pictures are of him prior to his competition. But, do you know through all of this he placed FIRST in his class! And already there is a lot of “buzz” about him! (I expect we’ll be seeing more coverage of him in Fitness Magazines in the future!)
I just want to give a huge CONGRATULATIONS to Eli for his win. If Eli can do it through all of that, I am POSITIVE that my little dilemma of having to work out at night is miniscule in comparison. He definitely serves as an inspiration to me … and I hope to all of you too!
Feel free to leave your congrats and “wows” here. Shelly knows I wrote this about her son and I think we’d all love to see some positive support for his AMAZING accomplisments.
And just as a sidenote, organic and natural are a big part of Shelly’s life. She runs an online shop and an Etsy boutique if you are looking for natural skin care products. Just visit Joyful Girl Naturals to get started on some natural pampering!

Whoo hooo! Congratulations to Eli, not only for the win, but for overcoming the obstacles before him!
And those abs ain’t too shabby either.
Awesome accomplishment. You should be proud.
Very inspiring, way to go!!
If I were only 30 years younger. Seriously, BRAVO that’s a LOT of work
What an amazing story!
I am just glad I do not have to shop for pants for him!!
I remember when hubby used to train, just to stay in shape for his job, and I had the hardest time finding pants that fit his thighs!
Way to Go , Eli!
OMG! Great story, great body!
