Bagnesia: When You Forget to Bring Your Reusable Bag

Mini KitI love reusable bags. They are so ecofriendly and they eliminate clutter, since I don’t have so many plastic and paper bags floating in my garage. But it seems inevitable that I forget my reusable bags at times – which is awful. At Target, it means I don’t get my 5 cents discount per bag. At IKEA it means I get charged per bag. And everywhere else … it means my clutter-collection of paper and plastic bags is growing.

I know I am not alone, dealing with this syndrome. There is even a name for the problem, when a person forgets to grab their reusable bag. That word is Bagnesia. But there is a two step system in helping people with Bagnesia. The first step is admitting you have a problem. The second step is to GrabYourBags – both literally and in the virtual sense. See, if you visit GrabYourBags.com, you will be brought to a website dedicated to helping people with Bagnesia. There you will find kits dedicated to helping you remember your reusable totes, as well as a great selection of reusable bags, totes and produce bags that you can take on your shopping trips.

To help me with my problem, GrabYourBags.com sent me their Reusable Bag Reminder Kit. This is just one of many kits they have available. This one comes with a storage pouch, reusable bag, steering wheel reminder and door hangar. Unfortunately for me, the steering wheel reminder wont go around my steering wheel. But the door hangar rocks! I have it on my front door and whenever I am about to leave I am DEFINITELY reminded to be aware if I need my reusable totes! It has already caught me a few times, getting me to go back to the garage and grab my totes! And that has saved me from bag-clutter and decreased my carbon footprint. This kit retails for $14.99.

Other great kits include the Reusable Bag Solution Kit and Green Market Kit. I also love how you can get reusable produce bags, so no more of those pesky, flimsy bags from the produce section. You’ll want to visit GrabYourBags.com to check out their complete selection of reusable items, though.

I think the Reusable Bag Reminder Kit is a great, inexpensive gift idea! It’s perfect for siblings, friends, parents and grandparents – especially if you are stuck for other ideas. Honestly, my sister asked me what to get our grandparents and I told her reusable bags. But what good are reusable bags if you don’t remember to bring them? That’s what makes the Reusable Bag Reminder Kit so special! It comes with the reusable bag, reminders and the Bagnesia Pouch to hold coupons, grocery lists, keys and more!

Here are some tips about not to froget resuable bags at home
    1. Every time you come home from shopping, make it a habit to unload your groceries and immediately put your bags back in your vehicle or hang them on your door knob. Don’t wait – you’ll forget.
    2. Set an alarm on your mobile phone or PDA to remind yourself not to forget. Or cover your dashboard, rear view mirror, hatch back and gear shift with post-it reminders.
    3. If you make a grocery list before you go shopping, add “Remember Your Bags” to the top of your list.
    4. Make a statement. Purchase really bright-colored reusable bags so you will actually like carrying them around.
