Fun with the Transparent Marble Run

marblerunMy boys love building. They build with Legos, K’nex, GeoTrax, wooden railways, etc. So when I discovered the Transparent Marble Run at Growing Tree Toys I knew my boys would be in love. First off, it gives them the joy of putting pieces together – second it comes with marbles that you can place into your creation and watch as it rolls around to it’s final destination.

When the toy arrived, I was right. They were immediately engrossed with building fantastic structures. The toy is meant for ages 4 and up, so I had to maintain a strict watch on the boys since they are on the younger end of the spectrum. Heck, it turned out I had to watch our Sookie (the dog) more – turns out she likes to pop marbles in her mouth, run and drop them to let them roll! Anyways, you have to put the tracks together in a certain way for maximum rolling enjoyment, since parts of the tracks have no opening and the other side does. So it takes some problem solving to get it to work as intended. The box has some display options to build, but I let the boys create whatever they wanted. It comes with 46 pieces, 10 marbles, 1 marble catcher and 2 green marble openings with switch. You can place one of the green pads with the switch onto the marble catcher to make it look really good. But since I have two boys, it’s best to have two switches on top to let them both have fun with that neat gadget.

As the marbles race down, my oldest becomes like an announcer telling the different marbles to hurry up and who will get down the quickest. It is so cute! It made me think that I need more marbles. I saw cool Super Hero marbles at Toys R Us, with all sorts of Characters in a Bag. But if you Google it, you will come up with other Super Hero options online.

The only problem I had with the Transparent Marble Run was that one plastic piece was twisted, so instead of both attachment parts pointing down – one was pointing sideways. It can make getting the legs straight tricky when that piece is used. I am pretty sure you could just contact Growing Trees Toys if that happens to you. I already told them about my problem, and they said they would speak directly to the manufacturer.
