I have not read a book with this much interest and depth since the Sookie Stackhouse novels. That’s because this book in my hands is going to reveal shopping secrets that will help me slash my grocery bills in half. So what is this new go-to book that moms will want to read and test out for themselves? Well, Stephanie Nelson’s The Coupon Mom’s Guide to Cutting Your Grocery Bills in Half.
Since reading the book I have managed to use coupons more effectively and I am purchasing more with the money I do spend. And that is still a great thing! My cupboards are full, brimming with goodies! But I still need to use more coupons and understand the tips better to slash my grocery bill.
Some of the most valuable tips from this book that I love include:
- Tracking prices at your favorite stores, so you know when items should go on sale and stock up then.
- How to combine coupons for maximum discounts… even getting items for free (I had NO clue you could stack coupons until this book!)
- Why buying in bulk is not always better! Bring your calculator if you aren’t good at math.
Right not I am still in the tracking and saving coupons stage. I think once I get a good base of coupons I will be able to save more effectively. You can also visit CouponMom.com, where there is a forum with other people who follow this method. Some people only spend $4 a week on groceries. Can you imagine feeding your family of four for $16 a month!?! As a SAHM, I feel like learning how to effectively shop for groceries in this manner will “earn” me an income.
With the recession upon us, you almost can’t afford NOT to buy this book. Buy it, borrow it, earmark it and get your calculator ready! It’s time all of my readers get serious about THEIR money. I have decided that saving money on groceries will be one of my New Year’s Resolutions and I am going to use this book and the CouponMom.com site to help me along the way. I’ll try to post how I save and what tips I utilized. If any of you are coupon experts, feel free to share your tips, as well! And if you just want to learn how to save your money, then get your copy of The Coupon Mom’s Guide to Cutting Your Grocery Bills in Half and stay tuned to the Mom Buzz next year – 2010!

Thank you for sharing your input on this book. I have wanted to do coupons for so long. I finally started last year and Walmart or Winco out here do not accept printed coupons
So I can use all the help I can get lol
I feel your “coupon” pain, Shana. Publix doesn’t double coupons. LOL! I feel like double days are just a myth! I am still trying to get this couponing down, but the book is super informative!
Happy Buzzing!

Can’t wait to follow what you do Erin! This is awesome!
Sarah,
It’s an awesome book. I just have to get better at not losing my coupons. LMAO! They suggest having an organized binder…that might be the route I need to take.
I missed your resolution at theohanamama.com! I’ll go read it now!
TTFN!

I have been using coupons successfully for manny years. I am always ready to hear new ideas and learn new tips! This is a book I want to read!
At Target you can use their coupons and manufacturer’s coupons for extra savings!!!!!
Just so you know,I went thru corporate with Walmart about the printed online coupons, they ARE supposed to accept them,I got refused an then went to the website an complained an the manager of my local walmart called an said they WOULD accept them,an they did,so check again ladies on walmart
I check Kroger’s website every Sunday to see the sale ad. Then I look at my coupons and see what I have that is on sale. I have stopped using internet coupons because of all the problems I have had trying to redeem them, I don’t shop at Walmart because they don’t double coupons and have had a hard time when trying to use more than one coupon for items, even when I had the number of items for coupons.
I love the Coupon Mom site!! When I start getting off track with not using coupons I go back and re-read her articles and get re-focused.
I think I might need this book to learn how to stack coupons
I have never thought buying in bulk for my family as a money saver beacusr I can’t utilize my coupons to give me the saving as if I bought by individual. I like that you can combine coupons for maximum discounts… even getting items for free.
I used to think buying in bulk means saving! Gasp!
I have been using coupons for about 2 years now. I used to think it was a waste of time, but I don’t even spend that much time on it and I still save at least 10% a week. I would be in heaven if I found a store near me that doubled coupons sometimes AND accepted printed coupons.
Thanks i looked at Coupon Mom and signed up!
