My father passed on to me a love of M.A.S.H, Star Trek and Elvis. Elvis I appreciated musically at a young age, wanting to marry him when I was just 5 years old. My parents kept telling me I couldn’t, since he had already passed away. But I was insistent I could, since I could watch him on television. Of course, I didn’t marry Elvis. But he did “play” at our wedding, as my husband and I danced to Can’t Help Falling in Love.
Elvis’ music was just amazing. That’s why I am so happy they just released a collection of 25 hits from the King to celebrate his 75th Birthday (January 8th). Songs on the Elvis 75 CD include:
That’s All Right * I Forget to Remember to Forget * Heartbreak Hotel * Blue Suede Shoes * Hound Dog * Don’t Be Cruel * Love Me Tender * Love Me * All Shook Up * Jail House Rock * Trouble * It’s Now or Never * Are You Lonesome Tonight * Suspicious Minds * Polk Salad Annie * An American Trilogy * Little Sister * Can’t Help Falling In Love * Viva Las Vegas * How Great Thou Art * Guitar Man * If I Can Dream * In the Ghetto * Burning Love * Always on My Mind
Pretty much, a lot of my favorite songs are on this CD. Songs that make me want to dance (Viva Las Vegas), be with my husband (Can’t Help Falling in Love) or just bring up childhood memories of hanging out with my dad! Even last night my dad was singing a few tunes from the CD, like In the Ghetto and Polk Salad Annie!
Without a doubt, he is a legend! You or someone in your family is sure to be an Elvis fan and they would love this collection of songs on one great CD! Plus, for a serious fan you can also get a 4-Disc set of 100 songs from this rock legend! In this set the tracks appear in strict chronological order of recording dates over the course of Disc 1 (1953-1957), Disc 2 (1958-1962), Disc 3 (1963-1969), and Disc 4 (1970-1977). They range from the first demo acetate that Elvis made at the Memphis Recording Service of Sun Records as a gift for his mother in 1953 (“My Happiness”), to a sampling of Sun Records sides produced by Sam Phillips in 1954-55 (“That’s All Right,” “Blue Moon Of Kentucky,” “Good Rockin’ Tonight,” and more), through 21 and a half years of RCA tracks, from 1956 to 1977. Click Here for complete box set track list.I love that it includes A Little Less Conversation – the JXL Radio Remix Edit.
