Have you ever had one of those days when you are staring at the kids as they literally bounce off the walls, wondering what can you do to get out of the house. Oh yeah…. you know what I am talking about. And you start running down the list of what you can do to get out, but it’s the same list day-after-day. And although it may be entertaining, you are craving a new idea.

Well, the people behind Goby.com have created a perfect tool to solve your question, “What should we do today?” Goby.com (pronounced GO-be) is a new one-of-a-kind search engine that helps you find fun new ways to spend your free time. It searches more than 300 different categories of “things to do” from zoos and aquariums to playgrounds and children’s museums.

The site is amazing. When you visit Goby.com, is asks three questions: What, Where and When.  By answering just two of the three questions, you instantly receive an easy-to-read results page that includes not only detailed information about attractions, activities, locations and events, but also an interactive map and photos from sites like Google and Flickr.

When I went, I obviously did not know what I wanted to do. I just wanted to do SOMETHING. So I typed in my city and state as my “where” and TODAY as my “when”. It then brought up a huge list of Top Categories, like Family Fun, Outdoor Recreation, Events and more. Plus, on the sidebar it gave me a list of upcoming events, which could be separated by ALL, SPORTS, THEATRE and MUSIC. Brilliant! It does mix all events together, so I wish it had a KID tab so I could just see things appropriate for my group, but it was still great seeing everything at-a-glance.

I looked at the lists below the Top Categories and saw things that would meet my needs more, like Family & Kids Events, Playgrounds and Fun & Games. I almost didn’t know where to start clicking, so many options! So I opened a whole bunch of tabs at once. In my search I found that Marry Poppins and Wicked was going to be playing soon, we could go bumper bowling or visit an arcade. I also was reminded of old favorites, like smaller zoos, nature walks and amusement parks that often get overlooked in Florida. Overall, it is a great resource for families!
