When your kids have a lot of loose stool, like from diarrhea, it used to be recommended that you follow a strict B.R.A.T. diet. BRAT is a mnemonic acronym for bananas, rice, applesauce and toast, the staples of the diet. Now pediatricians are more likely to suggest that you continue a “normal” diet for your child, but add some foods from the B.R.A.T. menu since it can help reduce the severity of diarrhea. Plus, you want to keep your child well-hydrated during the time, but avoid sugary drinks and carbonated beverages.
That’s why it’s great that B.R.A.T.™ Diet LLC announced a wellness drink that has been formulated to deliver digestive comfort and nutrition for children and adults suffering from influenza, upset stomach or dehydration. Organic B.R.A.T. Wellness Drinks are based on the principles of the B.R.A.T. Diet and are intended to help promote gastro-intestinal health and natural electrolyte balance.
They developed Organic B.R.A.T. Wellness Drink to be a milk-like alternative that is all-natural, lactose, gluten, casein, soy, and corn-free with no added sugar or preservatives. Overall, it should work great for those with sensitive stomachs or who suffer from lactose intolerance or other food allergies. Organic B.R.A.T. Wellness Drinks are made of a blend of organic brown rice milk, banana and apple purees, and a dose of vitamins and minerals to calm pained and dehydrated stomachs. The drink is pediatrician endorsed and doctor recommended.
In addition to soothing upset stomachs, Organic B.R.A.T. Wellness Drinks are a nourishing alternative for those suffering from food allergies and intolerance, including Celiac disease, lactose intolerance and much more. Currently Organic B.R.A.T. Wellness Drinks are available in 32 oz. packages in four flavors, Original, Vanilla, Chocolate Honey and Cinnamon Toast.
MY THOUGHTS:
Honestly, we’ve only tried the Chocolate Honey at this point. My boys don’t have upset or sensitive stomachs, but there was no harm in letting them try the wellness drink since it had a good combination of vitamins and ingredients. You can read the nutrition facts at the BRAT Diet website. I thought that the boys would enjoy the chocolate honey flavor the most, since they are both flavors they love.
When I first poured the drink, it came out like watered down YooHoo. So I closed the top and shook it hard. When I poured it again it had more of a milky look to it … but still looked like watered down YooHoo. I had to remind myself that this wasn’t milk – it is a drink that will help replace electrolytes and nutrients. I smelled it … and it smelled like honey. That seemed good to me. Then I gave it to my youngest to try and he wasn’t overly excited about it. I think he just wasn’t expecting the different flavor, when he is accustomed to strawberry milk and water, along with an occasional chocolate milk and juice box. Even though it wasn’t a hit out of the ballpark this time, I still think there is value to the drink when your child is vomiting, has diarrhea or a sensitive stomach.
A 32 ounce container comes with a resealable top and has four 8 ounce servings. Once you open a container you want to use it within 7 to 10 days.

Wow – great to know! Our son has food allergies and used to have severe Eczema too. He took his Belly Boost probiotics which helped dramatically and he is so much better now. We usually take these for upset stomach but it is so good to know that there are food alelrgy safe products out there like this. I really like how they have all the vitamins in it so at least our kids are getting something healthy! Beats 7-Up any day LOL!
Hmmn… i am curious. I wanna try it.
