When I go out with my boys, ages 2 and 3, I carry a backpack full of essentials. In there are a change of clothes, my wallet, toys and books, my phone in its nifty limited edition iphone case (that you can win), reusable Baggu totes and a snack bag. The snack bag holds all sorts of options for my boys. Early in the week, I often have bananas, but those go quick since they don’t last long in a bag – you know, they turn brown and mushy. The other snack options have to stay “good” since we may eat them tomorrow…a week from tomorrow … or a month from tomorrow. Here are our top contenders in the snack bag:
1. Raisins
2. Gummy Snacks
3. Granola Bars
4. Cereal in little containers
5. Gerber Graduate Assortments
Recently I’ve been trying some of the Gerber options for preschoolers. They are fun, different, travel-sized and taste good. Since we loved our puffs, crunchies and yogurt melts as the kids were getting used to solid foods, these new preschool Graduates really work well for us with our on-the-go lifestyle. They often measure 3 inches long and depending on the snack chosen will be 1/2 inch to 1 inch wide. Here are some of the Gerber Graduate Snacks you will find in my snack bag:
1.
Cereal Twists: These are cereal bars that are twisted around each other. Each side of the cereal twist has a different yogurt flavored filling to make for a yummy combination. The three options are Strawberry Blueberry, Banana Peach and Raspberry Vanilla. So far we’ve tried the Strawberry Blueberry and the Raspberry Vanilla and the boys just love them!
2. Chewy Granola Bars: I admit, I love Granola Bars. I try not to eat the Gerber ones from the snack bags, but even mommy needs a fix to keep going during a long day out. We’ve tried the Mixed Berry, Apple Cinnamon and Strawberry options. They are made with whole grain rolled oats and wheat flakes and are not too grainy or hard. They are naturally flavored and provide 10% daily value for 4 vitamins and minerals. They have 6g of whole grains per bar and have no preservatives or artificial flavors.
3.
Fruit Twists: The Gerber Fruit Twists are a nice alternative to gummy snacks. Of the three Gerber snacks listed here, these are always the first to go. They are two different fruit tubes that are twisted together in a neat braided shape. The boys have tried Apple & Strawberry, Cherry Berry and Strawberry & Grape. I don’t think they favor a particular flavor and they are the perfect size for them to snack on when we are on the road. The fruit twists are made with 99% real concentrated fruit and juice and provide ½ of a preschooler serving of fruit per twist. Plus, each twist provides 20% of the daily preschooler amount of antioxidant vitamin C. There are no preservatives or artificial flavors or colors.
So those are our go-to snack options for the Tales household! Do you carry snacks in your carry bag for the kids and what do you choose?

My two love granola bars, I haven’t tried the Gerber graduates but I’ll put them on my next grocery list. They sound delicious. When we do carry snacks my kids enjoy all of your choices and for a special treat goldfish crackers.
My daughters love Craisins and Cheerios, of course I sneak a few as well!
