I don’t who I can credit for giving me a love of Celtic music, my sister or my dad, but I do love the traditional Irish music. Right now one of the “hottest” Irish singing ensembles is Celtic Woman and they just fed the frenzy with their new album Songs from the Heart.
I had an opportunity to listen to the new CD over the weekend. Celtic Woman features vocalists Lisa Kelly, Chloe Agnew, Lynn Hilary and Alex Sharpe, with violinist Mairead Nesbitt. They do a mix of Irish classics and original compositions, along with contemporary covers of other hit songs, like Sting’s Fields of Gold. Overall, it was great, relaxing music to listen to in the car ride to and from play dates and errands!
The complete list of songs from Songs from the Heart include:
- Fields of Gold
- Amazing Grace
- Nil Se’n La
- My Lagan Love
- When You Believe
- The New Ground
- Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears
- The Coast of Galixia
- Non C’e Piu
- The Moon’s A Harsh Mistress
- You’ll Be In My Heart
- Goodnight My Angel
- Galway Bay
- The Lost Rose of Fantasia
- O, America!
Even if you are not familiar with Celtic music, you may have seen Celtic Woman performing on Dancing with the Stars, plus they have an upcoming PBS Special. They are on tour now, including dates at Radio City Music Hall. You can catch information on tour dates and their new CD at www.celticwoman.com.
So that is my newest CD! What music or songs are currently in your CD player or iPod?
