The Tales residence is probugs … well, probiotics, that is. I have been buzzing about the benefits of probiotics on the Mom Buzz for over a year now! Probiotics are good bacteria that live in your intestinal tract. But we are such a germaphobic society that all of our disinfectants and antibiotics are actually causing us to have less of these bacteria in our system! So I think (as well as a few intellectual sorts) that there is a correlation with some of the illnesses that are becoming more common, like intestinal conditions, food-borne allergies and autoimmue diseases, and the decrease of probiotics in our system. (Just Google it! You’ll find research!)
I know probiotics doesn’t sound exciting or interesting, especially to kids, but there is a company that has developed a line of child-friendly probiotics called ProBugs. The company is Lifeway Foods (www.lifeway.net) and they manufacture of probiotic kefir in fun flavors like Orange Creamy Crawler, Sublime Slime Lime and Goo-Berry Pie. You can buy 4-packs of these yogurt-like drinks at many local supermarkets, like Whole Foods, Albertsons and Publix … just to name a few. Each container is like a sturdy “bag” that is smooshable. I stick a straw on top to let my son drink it. The container is resealable with a screw top. The spout is no-spill and the curvy shape of the container makes it easy for little hands to hold.
This is a milk product. There are 10 live and active cultures in ProBugs. You do need to keep it refrigerated. There are 130 calories in a serving. Ingredients include organic milk, organic cane juice and natural flavors, depending on what flavor you choose.
So far my little one loves Goo-Berry Pie! This one has organic blueberry juice concentrate. I think he is attracted to the silly bug/monster on the front and the bright color … and it’s good for him! What a bonus! He wasn’t too excited about the Sublime Slime Lime … so if your kid doesn’t like Lime, maybe skip it? My kids are more into berries than citrus. I love the size, which is small enough for him to finish. And I love that it is resealable, just in case he doesn’t finish. I also like that I can easily stick a straw into the opening to make it easier for my 2 year old to get those ProBugs into his system!
Definitely keep an eye out for a package in your local store and try to introduce it as a snack for your little one! Let me know what you think once you do!

I love that you can use a straw with these. I’m going to have to try them out on my son!
I’m going to look for these! My yr old is always eating my Activia.
