Star Wars Plush Backpacks #win

Whenever I am at Disney, I am sure to see one of those plush Yoda Backpacks, where it looks like Yoda is helping train yet another Jedi. I am sure fans of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back remember Yoda riding on Luke as he is trying to control the force. They always caught my eye and made me giggle. These backpacks are distributed by ComicImages.com and I just realized that they also make plush backpack buddies featuring a lot of the other Star Wars characters, including Darth Vader, Baby Hutt Rotta (from the Clone Wars), R2-D2 and Chewbacca. I would love to see a disassembled C3PO, like the one Chewbacca has to carry in Cloud City.

With Star Wars Weekend coming closer and closer I inquired about the other Star Wars Backpack Buddies they carried. They sent the Mom Buzz an R2D2 backpack for review and a Chewbacca backpack to give to one lucky Mom Buzz reader.

First off, at first glance I love all the characters they carry. I think that the Baby Hutt will really appeal to younger kids who are growing up watching The Clone Wars. The other characters will appeal to Star Wars fans of all ages, from kids to tweens and teens to adults. Actually, these backpacks are very popular with adults! I only see adults with Yoda on their back at Disney. Keep in mind the length of the backpacks when ordering online. Chewbacca is VERY LONG at 33 inches in length. (My boys are 36″ and 36.5″).  R2D2 is a shorter droid, only 22 inches in height.

Just like in the movies, the R2D2 backpack is mostly white with some blue and gray accents. There are straps that go around your arms, like a traditional backpack, as well as a waist strap. There is one zipper, around his head, to open the back pack. The pocket is 12.5″ deep. You wouldn’t be able to use R2D2 at school, there is no way he would hold books with his circular shape. But he is GREAT for theme parks. (From the pictures I’ve seen, I think Yoda and Rotta offer the most room within the backpack area.) And Beyond the Attractions: A Guide to Walt Disney World with Preschoolers (2010) does suggest bringing a backpack with as few zippers as possible. R2D2 fits the bill! He is also great for overnight travels or visiting relatives. Plus, why would you want to go anywhere without R2D2, he always manages to have some solution to get Anakin, Luke or C3P0 out of trouble when it counts the most! Let this reliable droid serve you!

Just so you know, when I gave my 4 year old son a choice, he wanted both R2D2, Rotta the Huttlet and Yoda. Way to narrow it down, right? In the end, I know either my husband and I will be toting this around Disney, I can’t expect my son to be our pack animal. But it’s his bag for his treasures and purchases when we visit Hollywood Studios for Star Wars Weekend.
