The Mom Buzz is helping Purina spread the word out about recycling pet food containers with their new “Together We Can Recycle” initiative. I never thought of it until this week, so the initiative came at a great time. But I have started recycling not just aluminum pet food containers (like Friskies and Fancy Feast), but also cardboard packaging that comes with some pet foods.
Purina has teamed up with Keep America Beautiful on this and is asking pet owners to take a pledge to recycle these products! Every little bit can make a difference!

$200 (ARV) worth of merchandise from the Martha Stewart Collection at Macy’s. Prizes may include merchandise in any of our four main categories: bedding, bath, dining and entertaining, and kitchen.
MANDATORY, FIRST ENTRY:
Cat-Owners (and dog owners can take this cat-like pledge too!), take the pledge to recycle pet containers!
Non-Cat or Non Pet Owners: Check out www.togetherwecanrecycle.com and tell me something you learned!

I took the pledge, and tweeted about it, too! Though I don’t know how often I’ll actually put it into effect, as we feed our cats dry food 90% of the time.
Thank you for the giveaway!

Recycling 1 ton of aluminum cans conserves the equivalent of 36 barrels of oil, or 1,665 gallons of gasoline
I learned that you can bid on “can-structions” made from Fancy Feast and Friskies recyclable cans created by animal lovers like Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli. Proceeds benefit Keep America Beautiful.
