Sun protection is important all year long, but during the summer is when most of us think about it the most. Many families are outside at the beach or theme parks wearing a minimal amount of clothing. I tend to be a little more aware, since my husband is so fair skinned and the sun seems to dot him with beauty marks and moles that are occasionally removed by a dermatologist. And those same fair genes were passed to my kids.

Skin color really doesn’t matter – the sun can damage any skin color. And it’s actually the damage and burns that your children get that will affect them later as teens, young adults or older. Any age can get skin cancer. And about 80% of skin cancers can be prevented with a complete suncare regiment.

What protection does your child need – pretty much from head to toe. Child Sunglasses, Sun Lotion and UV Swimwear are HUGE on my must-haves for my boys. One of my favorite suits are the one-piece swim suits from Sun Protection Zone. There are four styles of  one piece suits for boys and two styles for girls.

Why I Love the One Piece UV Swim Suits:

1. UV Protection – it provides UV protection across most of their body – torso, arms, and up to their knees. (100 SPF / UPF 50+)

2. They can’t remove their top easily. It’s the whole suit or nothing at all!

3. It dries quicker than a traditional bathing suit.

4. It looks cool – the boys think they are super heroes in them!

5. It’s stretchy and comfortable.

6. Skinny boys won’t lose their bathing suit bottoms. Think of how often you see little butt cheeks at the beach as the suit becomes wet and drags down. That won’t happen with these one-pieces.

6. The price is super – $25.

7. Can stand up to repeated wear in chlorine or salt water.

8. Waste less money on sunscreen – you only have to spray a little bit of their neck, their calves and feet and their face!

My boys have been wearing a red flame suit from Sun Protection Zone for over a year. They are absolutely adorable in it. They were wearing size 4 back when they were 1 and 2. Now they are 2 and 4 and the suits still fit spectacularly. I do think the older style has a lower neck than the current style.

I have the new Flame Blue to compare it to and it has a higher collar on the neck. I do think  these newer suits are a more sleek fit, too. I could probably have gotten away with ordering a size 6 for each boy. But the material is still tightly woven, dries quick, looks cool and offers great protection. I love using these suits at the beach, playground and pool.

One piece UV Swimwear is perfect for their swim lessons, because even with all the kicking and underwater swimming they don’t lose their bottoms. Plus, the suits dry so quickly. I made the mistake of letting them wear a traditional bathing suit bottom with a UV top the other day and their bathing suit bottoms were still wet by the time I got back to the car. Plus, like I said, my oldest was complaining his bathing shorts were slipping off. I never had those problems with the one-piece.

So, if you are getting ready for summer, definitely visit Sun Protection Zone and grab a one-piece to try for each of your kids. Or restock your current supply!

Great article – I definitely think sun protection should be #1, or top listed, for pregnant mommies and/or their children. I designed and sell a great product/sun hat for women. Great article on sun protection!! I’m an avid tennis player and therefore always in the sun during the hottest times of the day. I found it difficult to find a sun hat that I liked, which would stay on, and NOT give me a headache!! So, I decided to create one. You can see them here FunVisorstore.com I’d love for your readers to stop by and check them out! Drop me a line as well.
