American Girl: Just Dad and Me

I am a huge fan of American Girl Dolls, clothes, books and accessories. Not only are the dolls fabulous and matching clothes adorable, but the stories and complementing books teach values and morals while having fun. One awesome book that would be great for building memories between fathers and daughters is Just Dad and Me.

Just Dad and Me is a fill-in, tear-out, fold-up activity book of fun for girls and their dads. There are quizzes, car games, gift coupons, check lists and story starters. It’s not meant to be read or completed in one sitting, but for dads and their daughters to do every so often, helping to build a bond. I think this is a great gift idea for your daughter from dad!

Some of my favorite activities in the book include:

  • Teach your dad a new skill and have him teach you a new skill.
  • Interview your dad about what kind of kid he was. Then imagine how you would be as a grown-up.
  • Make breakfast with your dad.

See, it doesn’t have to be complicated! Yet, it can really help your daughter and her dad make time for each other. And there is also a version of this book for moms and their daughters called Just Mom and Me. This spiral bound book is 96 pages long and is available from the American Girl website for $10.95. It’s great for girls ages 8 and up.
