$400 Road Trip with Volkswagen’s Routan #win

National Lampoon’s Summer Vacation can hit close-to-home when your actually on vacation with your family. The last family vacation I took with my parents and sister was the LAST ONE EVER, they swore. I was seasick when whale-watching. My sister got poked in the eye by a spider in Salem. Someone spilled fruit punch on me in a Boston McDonalds and I refused to move until my dad went and got me a new shirt. And I guess my sister and I argued so much, my parents decided never again with us. But now that they travel with my mom’s parents more – the stories are even funnier! From my grandmother telling me how someone mistook her for 60 instead of 80 or how my grandfather swore he took a rental car home – when he actually rode in my mom’s car.

So, whether your going across country to a national park or just taking the kids up to the grandparent’s house, half the fun is getting there and who you are with. And it doesn’t matter where you’re headed; you’re going to want to be comfortable along the way.  There is a lot of buzz about Volkswagen’s Routan being a great family ride, with 12v power outlets, JoyBox™ Entertainment system, UConnect® Bluetooth® system, roof rack and more.

To celebrate Volkswagen’s Routan, they want to make your summer vacation easier. To do so they are offering a prize pack to one buzz reader. All you have to do is post a comment with your favorite road trip memory. Then I’ll pick with Random.org one comment/ reader to win the VW Routan Summer road Trip survival pack.

Did a trip to Disneyland end in a comedy of errors? Did you take a wrong turn in Arizona but end up discovering a great old ghost town? The good, the bad, and the ugly, we wanna hear ‘em.

We would each (4 kids) get road bags full of our own favorite items like travel games, books, music and other toys. It was great to see what mom and dad packed for us.

When I was about 7 years old we took a family road trip from Michigan to Texas to visit my cousins. Along the way we stopped at a rest stop and my father got out of the car and sat under a tree fro a short nap. Very short. Not long after he sat down to nap, he woke screaming in pain! He had fallen asleep on a fire ant hole, and little red ants ware swarming over him and biting him! He recovered, thankfully but when we ended up @ my family’s place in MARSHALL,TX, we discovered we had come just in time for the “Fire Ant Festival”
