I try to keep it simple with my children so that they can really appreciate the act of helping others. We buy an extra set of full school supplies which my kids take to school on their first day to give to their teachers to share with a child who cannot get supplies on their own, we have a local food bank box in one of our grocery stores which we always purchase something for each time we shop.

I plan to continue to support my children’s schools by helping out in the classroom, working in the school library, the book fair, Girl Scouts, fundraisers, and food and clothing drives. I plan to have our family continue to save “Box Tops For Education”, Campbell’s Soup Labels, and tabs from soda cans. All of these are ways my family can help out in our community schools.

We like to help at a local food distribution site.
I’d like to nominate my daughter. She’s always eager to help in the church nursery, she reads to the kids. She helps younger kids with their scripture memorization. She also asks at Christmas every year about sponsoring a child on the Angel Tree. She chooses the child and I let her do the shopping! She has such a kind heart.
We donate to toys for tots @ christmas, and we donate coats at wintertime. We donate old clothes and used books also.
We recycle, and have started a compost. we have reduced our water and electric usage, and switched to flourescent bulbs.
we give out food at shelters and donate food to food banks.
We help plant new trees and take care of out parks.
we help out any way we can. Recently we adopted a few stray animals.
My daughter and I already volunteer.
When my youngest is a little older, I plan to volunteer at the local food bank with her.

Our family helps our local community by volunteering and donating. We help with church and local drives for injured and sick residents. My daughter is active in her girl scouts group and 4H and has had the oppurtunity to help residents at the nursing home, children in daycare, and collect toys and donations for children in the hospital.
