The other day I was walking around Toys R Us and some duper deals on kid’s DVDs caught my attention. They were selling Horseland, Busytown Mysteries, Nanoboy and more for $4.99! It’s the perfect time to catch this deal for summer roadtrips and stock up on holiday gifts!
Cookie Jar entertainment released eight DVD titles in all, each with 10 episodes. Each DVD contains over four hours of content with ten half-hour episodes plus a bonus episode. The lineup includes:
Busytown Mysteries: Huckle the Cat, Lowly Worm, Sally Cat and Hilda Hippo run into mysteries throughout Busytown. Viewers get to tag along to solve mysteries – all at a preschool level. (Click on the link to fan the Facebook page of Busytown Mysteries.)
Wimzie’s House: Wimzie is a fantastic puppet, a dragon/bird, who is supposed to be only 5 years old. You meet all sorts of pre-school puppets who look like dragons, goblins and other mystical creatures. Children can learn along with the puppets through music, rhymes, stories, word games and more. (Click on the link to fan the Facebook page of Wimzie’s House.)
Mona the Vampire: First off, Mona the Vampire is not a real vampire. Even I was fooled by the title. Mona believes her town is full of supernatural creatures. As her alter ego, Mona the Vampire, she solves mysteries with Fang her Cat and friends. (Click on the link to fan the Facebook page of Mona the Vampire.)
The New Adventures of Nanoboy: This is a super hero cartoon about a boy who transform into a miscroscopic size to fight miscroscopic villains. Nanoboy battles ameobas, proteins and bacteria from the perspective of a 10-year old boy. Young boys will love it. (Click on the link to fan the Facebook page of The New Adventures of Nanoboy.)
The Busy World of Richard Scarry: We have books about this character, Huckle Cat, so I was already familiar with him and Busytown. The stories teach valuable lessons to children. Great for preschoolers. (Click on the link to fan the Facebook page of The Busy World of Richard Scarry.)
Horseland: This is the DVD that caught my eye at Toys R Us. I just know all my goddaughters would love it! Seven friends and their horses use honesty, integrity and self-confidence to solve difficult problems as they work hard to become competitive riders. (Click on the link to fan the Facebook page of Horseland.)
World of Quest: This was my first introduction to the World of Quest. It is about a young Prince named Nestor who is on a mission to save his parents. He is protected by hugely muscled Quest, who is actually under a spell to unwillingly aid Nestor. This is a Saturday morning cartoon based on graphic novels written by Jason T. Kruse. Young boys will love it! (Click on the link to fan the Facebook page of World of Quest.)
Super Duper Sumos: I can see lots of boys liking this one. Three HUGE super-hero sumos are sent to the modern world with ancient powers to fight evil. Boys will like the sumo-thongs, super-hero theme and super comedy. (Click on the link to fan the Facebook page of Super Duper Sumos.)
What’s really cool is that this is just the beginning of a growing lineup of titles from Cookie Jar Entertainment (www.cjar.com). Be on the look-out for other affordable, classic titles.
One winner will win the eight movies described above: Super Duper Sumos, Horseland, Busytown Mysteries, Mona the Vampire, Wimzie’s House, The Busy World of Richard Scarry, Nanoboy, World of Quest.

My daughter likes Strawberry Shortcake.
Busytown catches my interest.
I’d like to pick up Callou on DVD for my son, we catch it every once in a while on broadcast and its one of the few shows that will hold his interest, but its never on when he’s being all whiny and difficult. It’d be nice to be able to pop in a DVD and have an hour to pay attention to something else
Doodlebops!
I never heard of Gerald McBoing Boing but it looks like a cute show!
