Sport-Brella: Sports and Beach Canopy #win

This has been the coolest summer EVER. I have found out about all sorts of new products to have on hand for summer months! One of my FAVORITES is the Sport-Brella. And the cool thing is, if you are a “Soccer Mom”, you will be using this throughout the school year too. It is not just for summer vacation!

The short story is that the Sport-Brella is a “portable sun and weather shelter”. It opens to 8 feet in length and can vary in height, depending on your needs. I think it was around 6 feet in height when I have it like a canopy. It is lightweight – it feels like 9 pounds to me – and it has a carry bag with handle that you can put it in. You can hold it upright like an umbrella, but I think it is 10x cooler when used as an “overhang”, because people can huddle under it for protection from sun and rain.

With a name like Sport-Brella, you have to know it has umbrella-like qualities to protect against the rain.  But it also is UPF 50 for maximum sun protection. It even has side flaps to protect you from UV rays from all sorts of angles. And if it’s a gusty day, there are “release vents” on the top so your sport-brella doesn’t fly away with the wind.

If you want a breeze to go through on a muggy day, just unzip the side mesh windows. Need to keep your cell phone in a safe place, there are to storage pockets inside. This thing is just SO CLEVERLY DESIGNED.

The real trick to these contraptions is if I can assemble them. Yup! Took me around 5 minutes to put up and 5 to take down. The first thing you have to realize is that you will need scissors to undo one plastic strap that holds the stakes to the tent the first time you use it.  The Sport-Brella comes with 3 Tie-Down Cords and 8 Steel Ground Stakes. Four of the stakes are standard and four are heavy duty. For sandy areas when camping and/or at the beach you might want to use the Heavy Duty Stakes which offer more stability.

Zippered Windows for Ventilation.

Assembly takes minutes. You just open the Sport-Brella like a giant umbrella, release the stake from the center tube to get it into the ground, release the side flaps and then stake the Sport-Brella in 4 other areas for stability.

So is the Sport-Brella buzzworthy? You betcha! I love how it can be used to watch your kids play sports in all sorts of weather – and it is just AWESOME for the beach. It would also be good for swimming lakeside, camping and a playdate at the park! You can use it throughout the year, since it will always provide some kind of protection – against rain, sun and too much wind.
