Cool Flip Flops for a Sunny Spring! #win

I remember when my sister and I were younger – and my sister was pretending to make a commercial for her Flips Flops. Her dialouge went something like:

Flip Flops! They flip, they flop, you can stomp around and make noises to annoy your mom!

Now while I admit, those sure are selling points to a 7 year old … at thirty :cough: two I start looking for a few different qualities in a Flip Flop.

1. Comfort! You know how some flip flops rub between your toes after extended wear, forcing you to toss them in a corner to never wear again. Or they just don’t provide the right amount of cushioning for your feet to flip flop around the boardwalk. Well, that’s just a bummer for summer, right?

2. STYLE! I want OPTIONS! More than yellow or red. I want designs, colors, bright fun, coordinating colors, complementing colors, contrasting colors – colors for every outfit!

Well, my Flip Flop choice for 2011 are Havaianas. Watch that spelling when you type it in your browser later -there is that extra “a” after the “i” that you wouldn’t think to type. I think there are HUNDREDS of colors for women, a great selection for men and lots of fun styles for kids.

Now, I am going to just throw this suggestion smack in the middle of my rave. If you are looking for an interesting, fun idea to stick into an Easter Basket that is 0 calories, I always love to do a sun/beach theme for the boys. That means sunglasses, beach toys, bathing suits … and now I am thinking a pair of Havaianas Flip Flops each. So, let’s move on with my top picks for Women, Men, Boys and Girls.

WOMEN’S FLIP FLOPS: Check out the FUN Flip Flop styles. Seriously, that’s the name of the style, which has 5 different color options (Pink, Sand Grey, Lemon, White Purple and Hot Pink). Not only are they bright and zany, with fun strap colors – but they also GLOW IN THE DARK! So where them all day to get them charged with sunlight, then keep wearing them at night and follow the glow of your feet!

Men's 4Nite Ice

I have the Lemon Fun Havaianas. Like I said, they are comfortable for running after my two boys, whether I am dropping my oldest at school, scurrying up a playset to chase after my youngest or simply doing some grocery shopping. And I just LOVE the bright orange straps – they practically glow in the daylight. The Flip Flop body is lemon yellow and the design on it looks like fish, submarines, boats, diamonds and I swear one pink monster. The design is in aqua, pink, orange and lime green. All Fun Styles are $22.

MEN’S FLIP FLOPS: Considering I liked the bright, glowing options for women … it should be no surprise that my favorite style for men also glow. The colors are more subdued, with shades of gray and the neon green accents that glow. There are four colors to choose from in this 4Nite option, including Grey, White/Grey, Grey/Black and Ice. My favorite is Ice, which has a fun submarine design on a light grey background. The strap is a very light green – so light green it actually looks white. I think that’s because the strap glows too. These 4Nite options are $24.

BOYS FLIP FLOPS: You can never go wrong with super heroes for boys. There is a wild assortment, including Batman and Superman. I love the Blue Sky featuring Batman for $16.

GIRLS FLIP FLOPS: If you are looking for something a little more pink, there are adorable Fairy Flip Flops in shades or purple, pink, blue and green. And … just like the 4Nite and Fun options – they glow in the dark. I am totally wanting both pairs for my goddaughters!

Don't Panic about USA Sizing, Pay attention to UK and EUR.

SIZING:

Okay, let’s talk sizing. The only problem I cam across was that on my Fun Style (which I requested an 8), it came in USA 6… but the EUR and UK size were 38 and 40. According to the EUR and UK size, they are an 8. At first, I contacted the company just because of the 6 vs. 8 issue. But then I contacted them back, when I realized the EUR and UK size were technically right. They think that the Flip Flops were printed with the wrong size. I am not sure if this is every size or just with this size and/or just this FUN style. But no matter what, when you order your Flip Flop, make sure they fit. The size USA 6 does fit me like a perfect 8. So, once again, I think it was printed incorrectly on the Flip Flop.
