Moon Walk Bounce House

My boys get a lot of outside time with their cousins and friends. From playing on their inflatable water slide to riding around in Power Wheels and visits to the playground to using our own swing set in our back yard – we keep them busy and outside as much as possible. Otherwise I literally have kids hanging from bed posts and doors.

Now, two years ago I borrowed a teeny bounce house, made for toddlers, from my friend in May and it was a blast for a play date. But now that my sons, their friends and their cousins range in age from two to eight I needed something BIGGER. And with the majority of them being boys, the Quantum Leap Bounce House was a great, dry option that can actually be used all year in Florida. And I have to say Spring is PERFECT for an inflatable bounce house.

ABOUT THE QUANTUM LEAP BOUNCE HOUSE:

The Quantum Leap Bounce House has a space theme. There are two rocket ships on either side that help give it support and two red inflatable pillars on the back. There is netting between the inflatable pillars to keep the kids inside as they bounce. The front has an opening that can be shut with a strong Velcro-like material. It is made so that it is difficult for kids to unintentionally fall out of. The bottom of the bounce house inflates, as well. The material is very tough, so you can feel secure putting it on the ground outside, that it won’t just get punctured. Being a paranoid mama, though, I do put a tarp underneath inflatables for additional protection from twigs and acorns.

The front of the bounce house is GREAT. It has a moon-walk image of two astronauts on the moon with a planet and ship overhead. There is mesh in certain spots (the astronauts helmets, the planet and the ship) so that kids can put their face there and you can catch a cute picture. My 5 year old had a blast saying, “Look, I’m a planet! Look, I’m an astronaut!”

The Quantum Leap Bounce House is 11 x 11 feet. My sister was expecting it to be bigger. My husband was thinking smaller. It was exactly as I expected, but I had experience in purchasing inflatables in the past so the sizing meant more to me. But you can see the pictures I post to give you an idea. It has a weight capacity of 500 pounds and it suggests up to 5 kids. Over the weekend I had 4 kids bouncing in it, they were 3,5,6 and 8 years old. That was the perfect amount of kids in my opinion with that age group.

It did come with stakes so you can secure it to the ground.

SET UP:

Defying Gravity.

I think I got ahead of myself. There are two parts to the Quantum Leap Bounce House. First, there is the motor. You have to plug it in, so be sure you are close to an outlet or have an extension cord handy. Second is the inflatable. It is HUGE. It weighs 50 pounds uninflated. I could lift it myself, but it was easier to have my husband put it on the tarp in a shady area. And we did end up having to move it after we inflated it, when we realized we had it to close to the house under my brother-in-laws direction. (He was driving back and forth through our usual spot since he was trimming trees). So we moved it a safer distance from the house once we started bouncing.

I have to say, once you set up the motor, unroll the bounce house (which is a couple minutes at most) and tie-off the extra air release tube, it actually takes only 45 seconds to fill it with air. HOW AMAZING IS THAT! So you can get jumping within minutes of unpacking it.

Packing it up again took my husband a little longer. But he did manage to roll it up and put it back in its carry bag. He kept the motor separate to ensure he didn’t damage the inflatable, but we think the motor would fit in the same carry-all bag if push came to shove.

WHY WE LOVED THE QUANTUM BOUNCE HOUSE:

One Giant Leap for Child Kind.

If you can’t tell by my thoughts so far – or from the pictures – we had a BLAST in the the Quantum Leap Bounce House. The material  is durable and bright. It’s not the cheap latex material you find in kiddie slides – it is TOUGH.

The boys love the space-theme. The rockets on the side, the illustration on the front, the clever design so that they can show mommy their faces as astronauts, planets or blasting through space just thrilled them.

I also love that it kept them bouncing and expending energy outdoors. So much better than staying inside and watching cartoons or playing a video game. They were really using muscles as they competed to see who could jump higher or as they bounced off the netting.

And I liked that it wasn’t a wet activity. We do have a water slide from last year that has gotten a little mildewy. But this is a dry activity, so it’s easy to clean up after. No waiting for the inflatable to completely dry (which can take up to two days) before putting away. Instead, we just deflated, rolled, stuffed and it’s sitting back in my garage waiting for another sunny play date – which is going to be any day now!

FINAL THOUGHTS:

The Quantum Leap Bounce House ($429.99) is just one of many that you can find at BounceHousesNow.com. They have so many to choose from in a variety or sizes and styles, you are sure to find one that best suits your family. And with the economy still in a downswing, you might not be able to afford a visit to a theme or water park for a whole family – but for just the fraction of the price you can bring a theme and water park to your home! Just add air or water!

And my nephew was wearing his space NASA outfit. Totally unplanned. He peeled it off to bounce. :)

We had so much fun on Saturday. The kids can’t wait to bounce again. It’s going to be a weekend thing right now. :)

They look like they had a blast. My boys have always loved bounce houses, we might be renting one in a few weeks…never thought about buying one, that might be the right way to go for us.

    • Erin Tales says:

We did buy a water slide last year. I was worried how it would hold up between seasons, but we pulled it out 2 or 3 weeks ago and it was still fabulous. LOL. Buying is good, because then you get your money’s worth in a year or two – depending how much you use it.

      Happy Buzzing,

Looks like so much fun! I especially like the spots for them to put their faces.

  4. Samantha says:

So neat! Davis has been asking for a bounce house for awhile now…he loved the spaceship!

  5. When I hooked ours up for the first time, I connected the WRONG air tube to the motor. It seemed oddly short. Then when the thing inflated, the long one popped out. DUH. So I turned it off and moved the motor.

Looks like they had a lot of fun, I LOVE the spaceship colors and design.

    • LOL! We have a water slide and I once forgot to tie off that extra air tube. I was climbing up the slide to connect the water spout thing and the whole thing collapsed on my and my son – freaked me OUT in a claustaphobic way with all that material on us. I was wondering why it wasn’t holding my weight. Then I realized that second air thing is just wide open. So yah – setting it up RIGHT is important. LOL.

      Happy Buzzing,

      Erin T.
