Day 5 of Summer: Summer Picnic – #KraftFoods

New Orleans Picnic, by cometstarmoon

Picnics are a great way to spend quality time with the family this summer. You can pack up your cooler and head to the beach, park, your own backyard – or for places where summer heat is just too much – indoors! All you need to get started is a blanket to throw on the floor and some delicious food, drinks and desserts in a cooler.

To get you started on your outdoor or indoor picnic, here is a delicious sandwich recipe and action-packed picnic tips from the Kraft Kitchens Experts to help you pack the perfect picnic.

Blue Ribbon Ham Sandwich

Prep Time: 10 min – Makes 1 Serving

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp finely chopped red onions
  • 1 Tbsp finely shredded fresh basil
  • 1 Tbsp Kraft Sandwich Shop Garlic & Herb Naturally Flavored Reduced Fat Mayo
  • 2 slices of whole-grain bread
  • 1/2 cup of torn salad greens
  • 2 ounces Oscar Mayer Carving Board Slow Cooked Ham
  • 1 Kraft Big Slice Sharp Cheddar Cheese

Mix the onions, basil and mayo. Spread onto 1 slice of bread. Fill bread slices with remaining ingredients.
Serve with Miracle Whip Radical Dip and Miracle Whip Rocking Bacon-Ranch Potato Salad.

And to keep your food yummy and safe, here are picnic tips from the Kraft Kitchens Experts:

  • Keep your prepared foods in the fridge until it’s time to pack them up.
  • Don’t forget to bring some items that will get you moving. Consider packing a Frisbee, a couple of mitts and a baseball, a soccer ball or a football.
  • If you live fairly close to the park, take your bikes, walk or rollerblade.
  • Pack some sweet treats. Try fresh fruit such as melon and berries, Teddy Grahams Cookies or frozen Jell-O Pudding Cups as an alternate to ice cream.
  • Pack sunscreen! Even if it’s overcast or you’re lying in the shade, wearing sunscreen is always a good idea.

The Mom Buzz received an awesome collapsable Picnic Basket filled with Kraft Foods to make some of the treats and spend time for my family. The Picnic Basket had Miracle Whip, Kraft Mayo, Kraft Barbecue Sauce, Wheat Thins Crunch Stix, Teddy Grahams and new Jet-Puffed Stackermallows Marshmallows. Plus there were coupons for Oscar Mayer, Kraft Singles and Cracker Barrel Slices. YUM!

I was so excited to make sandwiches with Cracker Barrel Cheese at home. They have the best flavors – so sharp, real and delicious! My favorite is the cheddar. It really brings out the flavor of ham, roast beef, chicken or turkey in a sandwich.

And don’t even get me started on those cute Jet-Puffed Stackermallow Marshmallows. They are perfect for stacking with some chocolate in between two graham crackers with their thinner shape. But honestly, my kids like to eat them by themselves as a snack.

When we were little my mom and a group of her friends planned a huge picnic at this beautiful park. We had a ton of food and when we got to the park, it was incredibly windy that we had to leave and have an indoor picnic at her friend’s house.
