I love big, fluffy costumes on kids. And with boys, you can only go the “cute” route for a few years, so I make the most of it while I can. Now, every day I see the adorable selection of boy and girl kids halloween costumes on Pottery Barn Kids – either because I spot an adorable online ad I have to follow or during carline I am perusing the PBK catalog I have. Either way, the costumes are spooktacular. And I fell in love with Kid Puffy Bat Costume.
Like every PBK item, the quality is superb. The material is soft and thick. It comes with the body – wings attached and a head piece. The headpiece wraps gently under the chin with a Velcro closure. It looks like the child’s head is in the bat’s mouth – potentially disturbing, but in this instance super cute thanks to the Pottery Barn Kids design team.
There are no sleeves. Instead, the child’s arms pop out through large holes on either side of the body. The wings can be attached using Velcro straps at the wrists. That way when the child moves, their wings flutter. But since you can also allow the child’s wrists not to be attached 24/7, which may help when seatbelted or for other safety and/or comfort reasons.
If you want your child to look as-pictured on the catalog or website for the Puffy Bat Costume, they will need to wear black long sleeves and black pants. The costume is available in sizes 12 – 24 months, 2 – 3T and 4 – 6T. I got the 4-6T for my 5 year old son. It was generously sized, thanks to the poofiness. It will easily fit him again when he’s 6. And my 4 year old fits in the costume easily, as well. That said, my 4 year old is “big” and my 5 year old is “small”.
I wouldn’t hesitate if you see ANY costume you like at Pottery Barn Kids. These items sell out fast. At the moment I don’t think the Kid Puffy Bat Costume is available – and I just received mine on Friday! But these costumes are available at the time of this posting:
