Kid’s Crafts, Recipes & Activities #RecipesForFun and #win

Face it, as parents we spend a lot of time trying to keep the kids engaged and entertained in enriching ways. We don’t want them just to sit with their handhelds or game systems, letting their brains and butts go numb as time passes. I personally spend a lot of time searching blogs, Pinterest and websites looking for fun, cool ideas that they’ll love – from making mini-volcanoes to snowman tie-dye shirts.

But … there is a new website worth pinning, since it’s practically a one-stop-resource for kid’s crafts, recipes, science experiments and activities. CloroxRecipesforFun.com encourages making a mess while having fun and learning – and of course, they think clean-up is a snap with Clorox Clean-Up Cleaner.

ULTIMATE MESS PARTY SWEEPSTAKES:
And to celebrate this buzz, they also launched the Ultimate Mess Party Sweepstakes – where you can clean up with prizes! One grand prize winner will win $10,000 towards an Ultimate Mess Party. You can also win instant prizes every day, just by registering, viewing projects or sharing a craft, recipe or activity. The messier the better, in my opinion.

By sharing a recipe for fun, you’ll get: An instant $1.00 coupon towards Clorox Clean-Up & 10 grand prize entries towards the Ultimate Mess party

Instant prizes for viewing recipes may include: Free Clorox Clean-Up Coupons or $100 Gift Cards towards various popular retailers. Prizes are awarded randomly.

 FUN KID’S RECIPE FOR FUN:

Entering a recipe for fun is easy. Just think of the last craft or project you did with your kids! Which category does it fall under – Wacky Science, Arts and Crafts, Kiddie Cooking or Creative Cooking? Honestly, besides Valentine’s Boxes and Homemade Birthday Cards, my last favorite project was the snowmen shirts I did with my youngest son. And yes, we all got a little “blue” from it. You can see complete steps and pictures of my tutorial here: Snowman Shirts. But, here are the “down-and-dirty” instructions.

MATERIALS:

  • White t-shirts
  • Simply Spray in various shades of blue
  • Something to “block” the spray on the shirt. I used 3 vitamin container tops of various sizes
  • Fabric Markers
  • Buttons, bells, etc as desired
  • Towels or something to cover the spray area
  • Plastic to stick inside the shirt to keep the paint from passing to the other side,

Directions:

  1. Place a white t-shirt on your working top.
  2. Place your container tops onto the shirt in the shape of a snowman.
  3. Scrunch the shirt all around, making sure to maintain your snowman
  4. Spray a color of your choice on the shirt
  5. Unscrunch shirt and then rescrunch in a different way.
  6. Spray a second shade onto the shirts.
  7. Keep spraying and scrunching until you have a pattern you like.
  8. When you are done with the front, remove your circles. Then put that piece of plastic or an old shirt into the original shirt and turn the shirt you are designing upside down. Now scrunch the back of the shirt and spray using the same method as before.
  9. When you are done spraying, hang the shirt to dry for 72 hours.
  10. Wash the shirt and dry, as per package directions.
  11. Now you can add snowman features using Fabric Marker and/or t-shirt paint. Follow manufacturer directions re: washing and drying.
  12. One the features are in place, you can sew on buttons or bells, if desired, to accessorize your shirt.
