@Raskullz: Children’s Bikes and 3-D Character Helmets #win

I’ve been meaning to buzz about Raskullz for almost a year, but you know how being a mom can keep you busier and more distracted than intended! But right now is the perfect time of year to jump on board … or on a bike! Here in Florida, winter seems to be over and we are enjoying beautiful, sunny weather. That means more bike riding for my boys. And that also means I need to keep their hands, knees, elbows and heads protected from falls as they still get used to balancing on their bikes!

LET’S TALK HELMETS:

That’s how I originally learned about Raskullz 3-D Character protective helmets. I saw their selection at Target and the family would always get goofy trying on the different protective helmets that look like gorillas, cats, bunnies, ponies, dinosaurs, sharks and more. I count 36 styles in all that will appeal to both boys and girls.

Now, at the time my boys already had Spider-Man Bike Helmets, so I didn’t feel pressured to purchase a new helmet – as cool as they were. But just a few weeks ago I received a grey Shark Attax helmet and green Ragdon for the boys to try. I wanted to wait to try them out, since our weeks are so busy with school and homework, but my youngest son spotted my box and pulled out Ragdon for himself and handed Shark Attax to his older brother. And then :gasp: they both immediately wanted to ride their bikes.

It’s not that unusual for my youngest (4.5 yo) to want to ride, but it can be a chore to get my oldest (5.5 yo) to ride since he is afraid of falling. But they were so eager to put on their helmets, it was a great incentive. And during our bike rides, we already had the chance to check out how well these 3-D helmets protect! My youngest fell twice, sideways, off the bike. And my oldest tumbled sideways and forward, actually hitting his head on the ground lightly. No scrapes on his head and no bruises. His head was perfectly protected in Shark Attax.

Overall, the features of Raskullz Helmets I love are:

  • An incentive for children to ride their bikes
  • An incentive for children to want to wear their protective helmets
  • True protection in case of a fall
  • Outer details are flexible and bend with a fall. (ie: The shark fin is sturdy but completely bendable, like swimming flippers)

Raskullz Helmets can be purchased online at Raskullz.com and I’ve also spotted a huge selection at Target. Retail prices start at $19.99.

LET’S TALK BIKES:

Now, if you are in love with the Raskullz line and are looking for a new children’s bike, consider their new selection of bikes. Currently there are two 16″ styles available – Cutie Cat and Shark Attax. Both bikes retail for $79.99 and are available online at Raskullz.com and Toys R Us, too. My favorite feature of these bikes is their 3-D character compartment for storing items. They also come with a bell, training wheels and rear coaster brakes.
