Make Your Own Book for the Holidays (Photos, Recipes, Stories) #win

Blurb is without a doubt my favorite company to create books with. Most often I design photobooks, but one of my most creative ventures was to make an ABC Super Hero book when my children were younger to help them learn their ABC’s!

Pretty much you can do anything. Put together photos from a wedding, from a birthday party, from throughout the year. Compile your poetry, your short stories, your family recipes. Make a unique book for each member of your family, or make something so special that you need to order multiple copies to give to everyone. You can keep your book private or make it public to sell. And the design options are endless, with a variety of backgrounds, papers, cover styles and book sizes to choose from.

Below are a few books I’ve worked on in the past using Blurb. They are my favorite when it comes to quality and customization. You can make the pages look HOWEVER you want. You aren’t limited by pre-designed layouts. For an easy book, they suggest using Bookify online. With that option you can create ebooks and books using Instagram and Facebook photos. I personally like downloading and using their Booksmart program, totally customizing my photo and text layouts. Finally, there is Blurb for Professionals for full creative control.

And here is a screenshot of the book I am currently working on, a Recipe Book. For the most part I have to go on a hunt every holiday through various index cards to find the recipes I use the most – Sweet Potato Pie, Rum Balls, Cheesy Broccoli, Coquito, Mantecaditos. I thought it’d be SUPER to finally compile my family recipes into one book, complete with photos of the dishes I make. Once again, this one is going to take a few months to compile as I cook my way through these next few months!
