Floridians live in Flip Flops. From casual to “dressy”, we can find a pair for practically any occasion. But Flip Flops can be more than just protection for your soles. Grounding footwear, including sandals or Flip Flops), offer some of the benefits of barefoot walking without damaging the bottom of your feet.
You see, lightning strikes and the sun add electrons to the Earth’s surface. When we stand on the ground barefoot, we absorb the electrons to rejuvenate the body’s energy. Previous grounding footwear used a carbon ‘plug’ in the middle of the sole to allow people to absorb these beneficial electrons. But the new Groundals are made of a specially developed TerraMater Footwear® material, so that no plug is needed.
Groundals also have a contoured footbed for comfort and a high traction sole to handle multiple terrains. The top of the Groundal is made of a rubber-like material. They come in three colors:
- Black with a black strap
- Black with a gold strap
- Black with a silver strap
Sizes offered are S, M, ML and L. They are made in the USA.
Final Thoughts: Overall, I believe many people can benefit from these shoes. I did find that I received friction blisters from the top strap on my foot after wearing Groundals for an extended period of time, but I have very particularly narrow and long feet. Based on my experience with wearing shoes, I think the length was good, but the width might have been too wide causing the blisters. So these will be a good fit for average and wide feet, but possibly not narrow and long feet.
