My husband was telling me the other day that he wishes that his Easter baskets were as cool as the ones our sons get. Instead of candy, we fill it with books, games, and apparel. Okay, we also like to add Peeps. Who can resist Peeps? But we don’t fill it with just candy.
For Kids ages 1 – 3: Go! Go! Smart Wheels are new and a great fit for an Easter basket. I mean that literally, they are about the size of a woman’s fist. The Go! Go! Smart Wheels actually pairs with the Go! Go! Smart Wheels playset that has SmartPoint locations for the cars to respond to with voices, sounds and songs. Developmental benefits include language development, motor skills and imaginative play. It is suggested for ages 1 – 5, but I think 1 – 3 is more appropriate. MSRP: $7.99
For Kids ages 3 – 8: Switch & Go Dinos Turbo have been a great hit with young boys. Spinner the Stygimoloch was the first one that my boys had the opportunity to play with. This model is also Easter-Basket friendly, approximately the size of a man’s fist. It is called Switch & Go because it can transform from a dinosaur to a vehicle. It has two buttons. One button makes various dinosaur sounds. The other button has Spinner talk about what he wants to eat, when he lived and other facts about himself. There are 25 combinations of sounds and phrases. You can also “rev” up the wheels on these Turbo dinosaurs and they will race over 20 feet. There are 6 dinosaurs to choose from, Dart the Triceratops, Zipp the T-Rex, Spur the Stegosaurus, Fray the Ankylosaurus, Cruz the Spinosaurus and Spinner the Stygimoloch. MSRP: $24.99
InnoTab Cartridges: TheMomBuzz reviewed the InnoTab 3S back in September and my youngest loved it. If your child doesn’t have one yet, its a great addition to a basket. If they do have one, then add a few cartridges to the basket. Some options include:
Bubble Guppies InnoTab Cartridge: This is designed for ages 3 – 6, educationally Pre-K to Kindergarten. This cartridge teaches Social Studies, focusing on Life Science, Color Matching, Counting, Creativity, Reading, and Vocabulary. My youngest likes the Bubble Guppies characters. His favorite game is the number game, which is disguised as “taking care of Bubble Puppy”. The graphics are pretty amazing, compared to handheld educational games my oldest son played seven years ago. MSRP: $24.99
Disney Planes InnoTab Cartridge: This is designed for ages 4 – 7, educationally for pre-K to 1st grade. This cartridge concentrates on Math, focusing on Addition, Counting, More/Less Than, Subtraction, Reading, Map Skills, Memory, Logic Skills, Reading, Vocabulary and creative Photo Fun. My youngest loves the Photo Fun app, where you get to mix up your photos with Dusty and other Disney Planes characters. There is also a lot of interactivity with this, where you tilt the tablet to help fly Dusty to answer math questions. I really liked this game, because I can see how it is prepping my son for first AND second grade skills in a fun way. MSRP: $24.99
