The other day I was shopping at Kohl’s and I took the time to stop at the front where they sell the Kohl’s Cares merchandise. I love the books (high quality, hard cover) and complementing plush they sell for just $5 each. I usually stock up for Christmas and Birthday gifts. This time I saw that it was Rio 2 items and knew my youngest son would love Blu the parrot.
Surprisingly I received a package with select Kohl’s Cares Rio 2 to review on theMomBuzz shortly after. I was thrilled, as I pulled Blu out of the box with his impressive wingspan. I handed him to my youngest, telling him that every pirate needs a parrot. And then we settled down at bedtime to read the story RIO 2 Blu’s Wild Journey.
My son doesn’t remember too much about the original movie, which we did watch together at a friend’s house. But the book did cover how Blu met Jewel and how Blu likes to copy humans a lot. Meanwhile, Jewel misses home. She and Blu have three babies and they end up flying to the Amazon to find more rare birds like them. In the end, they find Jewel’s family hidden behind a waterfall and a new adventure unfolds.
The story stresses family. I love how they fly together, take a ferry and Blu is even checking his GPS as they go on their “vacation”. It reminds me of the adventures parents will be taking with their families this summer!
If you are picking up this hard cover book, remember to pick up the plush as well. I am always amazed that these plush are $5 each, when another store would sell them for $20 or more, easily. You can buy Blu, Gabi (frog) or Luiz (dog).
For more fun, pick up the family style Rio 2 puzzle for $5, as well. This is the first time I’ve seen a puzzle in the Kohl’s Cares line-up of goodies. Pieces varied in sizes and it made a large puzzle. I wanted to glue it together when I was done to save it. It was a picture of Blue, Jewel, Gabi, a toucan and the three bird children.
I feel that products in the Kohl’s Cares program are high-quality for us, plus it gives back to the communities it serves by supporting kids’ health and education nationwide, women’s health and the fight against breast cancer. You can feel good about making a difference when you shop these products for gifts.
Since 2000, Kohl’s has raised more than $257 million for kids health and education initiatives through the Kohl’s Cares cause merchandise program, recognized more than 19,500 outstanding kids through the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program and donated more than 2.7 million hours of volunteer time through the Associates in Action volunteer program.
I was very excited about this theme and I cannot wait to see what Kohl’s comes up with next as part of the Kohl’s Cares merchandise program. And if you haven’t yet, be sure to watch RIO 2, now in theaters!
