Squiggle Pads for Summer Doodles (Low Tech, No Batteries Required!)

SquiggleontheGoFor last minute summer trips, don’t immediately turn to iPads and technology to beat the boredom. Doodling requires no batteries, makes no noise and can help fuel creativity.

Doodling was once thought of as a mindless activity, but studies are now showing the opposite results. Not only is it linked to helping one remember, it can also inspire creativity.  Everyone loves to doodle, and the line of SQUIGGLE activity pads and games is a simple vehicle to make that happen.  The SQUIGGLE line of award winning games and activity pads now includes over 30 doodle pads and Spin and Seek hidden-object pads that offer something for all ages and interests.

TheMomBuzz received a Squiggle On-The-Go and Squiggle Spin-and-Seek pad for review. The pads are small, just a little larger than a Post-It-Note pad.

SQUIGGLE® On-The-Go is designed for ages 5 and up. It gives a starting squiggle, then they can either spin for inspirationon what to draw or draw whatever their heart desires. Our Squiggle On-The-Go had a pets theme, so the spinner options were Snake, Hamster, Bird, Cat, Turtle, Dog, Rabbit or Fish. It comes with a simple pencil, similar to what you have at mini-golf ranges. It’s small size makes it easy to tuck into your purse or a backpack to pull out at a moment’s notice. It can keep both kids and adults amused during waits or car rides. This Squiggle retails for  $4.99.

At first glance SQUIGGLE® Spin and Seek™ is similar to On-the-Go. It has a spinner and a pad. But rather than a pencil, a small marker is included. And the pad doesn’t just have the start of a squiggle, but is loaded with lines and images. It turns out that Spin and Seek is a fun hidden-object game. Spin the wheel and find the hidden objects the spinner lands on.  Spin the wheel again to select another set of hidden objects or try an entirely new page. All 100 pages are unique, with objects hidden within thousands of squiggly lines.  A great for travel activity that will never run out of batteries! Select from the Original Spin and Seek, BFF, and Fashion. This is good for ages 4 and up and retails for $5.99.
