I often get asked what lipstick I am wearing, and I always have to share, “It’s CoverGirl!” I have fabulous and fun colors like: Seduce, Feline, Eternal and Spellbound. And most recently I purchased Bombshell Pink! I love it! I just am such a huge fan of bright pinks!
So when I had the chance to review some new CoverGirl products, I was on it! I could purchase almost whatever I wanted, so I picked up CoverGirl CG Smoothers Pressed Powder (which I haven’t owned since High School!), CoverGirl® LashBlast Volume Mascara and a CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner pencil.
Pretty much my make-up routine on work days is:
Step 1: Cover Dark Circles Under Eyes
Step 2: Put on Favorite Lipstick
Step 3: Put on some Eyeliner. I am VERY particular about eyeliner. It can’t be a pencil you sharpen and I am not a fan of liquid. It has to be one of those “pencils” that you rotate the outside and a skinny tip comes out. And then THAT tip has to glide easily and smoothly. Not every brand is capable of it.
If I am going out on a date, there may be a Step 4 of Mascara.
So what I purchased covered my work and fun needs!
First, I attack my circles under my eyes with CoverGirl Liquid CG Smoothers. I have classic beige, which is a little light for my skin tone, but I have been making it work for 7 months. I just put three drops under each eye and smooth it in to lessen the look of dark circles.
With my new pressed powder in Translucent Honey (which is perfect for me), I then smooth over where I dabbed the foundation, and also blend in with the rest of my face. It makes everything look smoother, more professional, more flawless. It also reduces shine! I haven’t owned CG Pressed Powder since High School! Now that I own it again, I am hooked! It’s a keeper.
I purchased a special value pack of Full Lash Bloom Mascara by Lash Blast, which came with Black Onyx Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner. Pretty much, Black Onyx is just a must-have. It’s a color I wear every day, since my eyelashes and eyebrows are black. I don’t fully line my eyes, just the outer ends of both the top and bottom. This special tip allows more control, and I love the little smudger tool at the end!
That said, as much as Black Onyx is my go to shade for eyeliner, I went and bought this turquoise blue. It is awesomely fun! I am going to be wearing it on my days off and feeling frisky and fabulous! I have to see what other colors they have and collect more!
After I apple the eyeliner, I use white eye shadow at both ends of my eyes to “brighten” them up.
I was having a hard time choosing the perfect Lash Blast mascara at the store, but like I said before, I went with Full Bloom. There was also Clump Buster, Super Sizer and just “Last Blast”. Some make lashes seem longer, others are length and volume, and Clump Crusher promised 200% volume without clumps. I wanted “fuller”. There is a lot of buzz about those fiber mascaras, but that is like THREE STEPS. This CG Full Bloom Mascara – One Step. Apply to lashes, they come out full, separated and not at all stiff. It was a Big Lash Look that was perfect for date night.
And finally, what started it all – lipstick. My newest shade is BombShell Pink. It’s my “brightest pink”. I also own Spellbound (which is a deep pink) and Eternal (which is deeper, darker pink – but still very, obviously pink!). I bought Feline, because it was a sweet, girly pink. It’s got a “barely there” quality, which is great for work. And then I have Seduce, which is RED. It is my date lipstick! And I have to tell you, these lipsticks are ALL DAY lipsticks. Morning to night with no need to reapply. When I drink, I do leave “lipstick stains”, but a quick mirror check shows my lips are still vibrantly and perfectly colored.
Overall, with this latest make-up shopping experience at Walmart I went with some old favorites, but with new shades and came out winning. I also tried items I haven’t tried in YEARS and came out thinking completely positive about where they’ve improved in the past two decades. Finally, I found a new product I love with the mascara. So in the end, I am still a CoverGirl fan at heart!
