December 4th was National Cookie Day. How did I spend that day? Baking cupcakes. But on December 5th, I got my act together and got busy making cookies. I chose Krusteaz Shortbread cookies – which are AMAZING. I’ve tried numerous Krusteaz Cookie Mixes before – but the Shortbread cookie mix is the must-have for the holidays. So versatile and completely melt-in-the-mouth awesome.
Buy the Shortbread Mix, add 1.5 sticks of butter, mix-mix-mix, add a topping if you want, and bake. I love adding cherries, my son likes adding cherries too, but not eating them. He does like eating the ones with sprinkles. Or you can add Reese’s Chocolate Bells, M&Ms, Hershey Kisses, etc.
Classic for this time of year, though, are Gingerbread men. After reading Gingerbread Pirates with my son last year, I bought a Pirate Cookie Cutter to make Gingerbread Pirates at home. This Krusteaz Mix is perfect. I was going to bake them from scratch, molasses and all, but being a working mom with lots of volunteer time scheduled I never got my act together. But I could add butter to the Krusteaz Gingerbread Mix, roll it out on powdered sugar with my son and together we cut out and decorated some amazing cookies. The taste was definitely spiced just right for the holidays. It was the best Gingerbread Cookie Mix I’ve ever tried.
If you aren’t keen on the Gingerbread taste, no matter HOW good it is, you can always decorate Butter Vanilla Sugar Cookies instead. It’s probably better suited for bigger groups and just as fun to decorate.
Finally, there are Snickerdoodles. I only started to make Snickerdoodles 13 years ago. They are easy and so delicious with their cinnamon and sugar swirliness. When I make them for potlucks, it’s amazing how fast they go. Another crowd pleaser, and no need to decorate with icing.
Baking is also a heartfelt and affordable way to gift for the holidays. I purchased these adorable Zazzle Gift Boxes to fill with little treats for my officemates and my husband’s employees.
If you know you’ll be doing a lot of baking this month, be sure to add some of these top Krusteaz cookie mixes to your cart, along with butter. That’s all it takes to make delicious, homemade cookies this holiday season.
