Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know #BOOK #REVIEW

I went to see the new Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, with my boys over Winter Break. Needless to say, they loved it. They are 10 and 8 years old. The new movie was fantastic. You definitely can tell Disney has a hand in it when it comes to the humor. There was a lot of questions that remained unanswered, but the new characters are refreshing. I especially am a fan of Kylo Ren – he reminds me of some of the youth of today, not sure who he is or what he is trying to prove, which makes him truly deadly.

Star Wars Everything

So in honor of the new movie, I wanted to buzz another DK Publishing Star Wars book – Star Wars: Absolutely Everything You Need to Know. This hard cover book is perfect for my boys, because they were not born when the original trilogy was released and they were too young when episodes I, II and III were released. Yes, they watched them all, but it still isn’t the same as watching it in the theater. Plus, remembering all the details from these Star Wars movies might get confusing – it’s always nice to have a reference guide!

The contents are jam-packed in the 200 glossy pages. It is separated into 5 sections:

Protectors of the Galaxy: Every spread talks about different good guys. The Jedi of the Republic, Head Honchos (Yoda, Mace Windu, Plo Koon, etc.), Mavericks and Mentors of the good guys, Legends, Clone Trooper and more.

Bad Guys, Bounty Hunters, and the Underworld: This is where you get a look at the Sith, Separatists, Bounty Hunters and The Empire.

Weird and Wonderful Beings: There are so many different races, aliens and memorable characters. LEarn more about the different droids, monsters, warriors and rogues and where you would find them.

In a Galaxy Far, Far Away: This sections covers the different lands that you find in Star Wars. Which ones do you remember? Naboo, of course. Mos Eisley is incredibly famous. Hoth was remote and unknown to the characters in Star Wars, but not the fans. There is also Coruscant, Kamino, Geonosis, and Endor, just to name a few. Space Stations are also covered here.

The New Era: This section is the smallest in the book. While most sections cover approximately 50 pages, this one only has about 6. This is where you get a sneak peek at the new characters like Rey and BB-8, First Order Storm Troopers, and Kylo Ren. This section is definitely incomplete and leaves you with questions, just like the movie. Thankfully, NO SPOILERS!
