Just google noncandy Easter Basket ideas, and you will see that Candy is out and Toys are in for Easter Baskets these days. I don’t know WHEN that change was made. When I was younger my basket was full of Jelly Beans, but by the time I began parenting, most of the Easter Bunnies I knew filled baskets with Spring Toys, Crayola products and Books.
Last year was the first year that one of my sons received a Playmobil Egg, though. These eggs are HUGE, Ostrich sized at 4.5″ x 4″. And they have four “themes” to choose from. Last year my son received a pirate.
This year, he was already hoping he would get another PLAYMOBIL egg. I was searching on Amazon for one, but we received a timely egg to review. 2016 PLAYMOBIL Eggs are:
- Zookeeper with Alpaca,
- Pirate on Treasure Hunt,
- Mermaid with Seahorses,
- Soccer Player with Goal
We received the Zookeeper with Alpaca to review. I opened it up to get it ready for Easter delivery. Inside was the Zookeeper (female) with hat, and Alpaca, a bucket, a rake, 2 pieces of green hay, a blade of grass and some feed for the bucket. The Alpaca is posable, as is the zookeeper.
I would search Amazon for some of the retired options at good prices. You can also purchase the current themes at the PLAYMOBIL USA site, as well as specialty retailers. The MSRP of one of these eggs is $9.99.
