As a woman, I naturally get giddy over weddings and proposals. It doesn’t help that I am (not-so) patiently waiting for my brother-in-law to propose to my friend. I keep sending him proposal ideas that I think are cool. But really, he already has his mind made up and won’t share with me what he is going to do. So I thought I’d share my fabulous ideas with you googlers are looking for proposal inspiration.

1. Proposal by Dolphin: I love this idea and my own husband says he would have proposed by dolphin if he knew about it 8 years ago. One of Discovery Cove’s bottle-nose dolphins will deliver a personalized buoy with your proposal. You can purchase this proposal package under the Perfect Day Package, which starts at $129. Perks depend on the Perfect Day Package you choose, and can include a private cabana, champagne, photos, roses and more.

2. Pop the Question in Ice: Every winter, Gaylord Palms displays impressive ice sculptures in a 20,000 winter wonderland exhibit called Ice. What can make their exhibit even cooler is popping the question in ice! They offer two packages, one is $199 and the other is $499. The $199 package includes VIP tickets, priority access, and a professional photographer who will discreetly follow and capture the proposal. But really, it’s the $499 package that will melt her heart on this one. They will carve “Will you Marry Me?” into an ICE! block and for $50 more they will include name personalization. How shocked will she be when she sees her name on Ice!?

Source: celebrations.com via Erin on Pinterest

3. Tiffany’s Treat: If you are purchasing the engagement ring from Tiffany’s – or even if you aren’t – this is a sweet way to propose. Create a cupcake box using the Tiffany motif. Pop the engagement ring in the frosting as a topper. Finally, head to a Cupcake Boutique and ask them to pull this out when you order. You can also do this at a restaurant and have the server bring this out when you order dessert.

4. Photo Booth: Ever since I uploaded the Pop Booth App on my phone, I have been in photo-booth mode. Wouldn’t it be sweet to pop into a local, fair or boardwalk photobooth for a proposal. Pop in the quarters (or credit card) to start snapping. And then immediately propose! You’ll get a strip of priceless memories of her first expression at being asked to marry you!

5. Scavenger Hunt: I am adding this cute proposal idea, since this is how my husband proposed to me. He actually proposed on Easter and hid on a sand dune on the beach. I had to go find him and a giant egg, that was filled with goodies … including an engagement ring. You can go with the Easter Egg hunt on Easter or just make it a fun Scavenger Hunt any other day of the year.

Hope these unique marriage proposal ideas helped inspire you! And feel free to share how your proposal stories in comments below!

There are concerts featuring favorite kid entertainers, a party zone where children can dance with Shamu and her friends, and lots of activities.

FEATURED PERFORMANCES: TheMomBuzz had the opportunity to go last weekend, when it first opened. We had a chance to see a LazyTown concert, which was loads of fun for the little ones. Some children were even dressed like Sportacus for the occasion and 3 children were invited on stage to help energize the crowd!

You will want to get to the park as soon as it opens, though, since seating is limited at the featured concerts. The concerts are held in the Nautilus theater and they give out tickets (for free) to the performances in a booth in front of the theater. There are different times printed on the ticket so you know when to arrive and be seated. But tickets will run out fast, so if you get to the park late, chances are there will be no more tickets.

Other featured performances include: Max & Ruby, Doodlebops and Choo-Choo Soul.

SHAMU’S PARTY ZONE: We ended up arriving at Shamu’s Party Zone later in the day. It seemed less crowded mid-afternoon, compared to just before noon. Shamu’s Party Zone is located at Lakeside Patio. There you will find interactive games, sea-themed sand art creations, character meet and greets, bubbles, face painting and dancing to fun tunes spun by a kid-friendly DJ!

If you are interested in the sand art and face-painting, be sure to bring some extra cash since there is a small fee to participate in those two activities.

FREE PRESCHOOL PASS: Children 5 and younger can experience family adventure for free at SeaWorld and Busch Gardens with the new Preschool Pass! It is unlimited admission with no blackout dates through 2012. This pass is a great way to experience the Just for Kids Festival. Plus, it can also be used for other special events like SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular and festive holiday events at both parks!

You must register for the pass online, they are NOT AVAILABLE AT THE GATE! If your child turns 6 during the year, they still get in free as long as you register before their birthday. And these Preschool passes are only good for Florida residents. Click here to access the pass: FREE PRESCHOOL PASS FOR CHILDREN 5 and Younger

FUN CARD: And the best deal you can get at SeaWorld, besides the Free Preschool Pass, is the Fun Card! When you purchase a Fun Card, you simply pay for a day and can come back all year with no blackout dates! A great way to experience Just For Kids Festival, along with future special events at SeaWorld Orlando.

Just-For-Kids Concert Info at a Glance:

I told her how fab it was, since I’ve been a few times throughout the year. One of my favorite parts about the annual pass is that you get discounts off food and items you purchase at the park when you show it, you get free parking and it gives you access to the park whenever it is open. In other words, you don’t have to pay extra to see special events or decorations during SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular or Christmas Celebration.

I was going to SeaWorld to see what’s fab and new for the 2011 Spooktacular, so I told my sister she MUST come along. SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular takes place every weekend in October: 1-2, 8-9, 15-16, 22-23, and 28-30. So at the time of this buzz, you can still attend for October 22 – 23 and October 28 – 30.

My sis has two kids, ages 6 and 8. So I thought her kids and my kids (ages almost 4 and 5) could hit up the usual no-so-spooky kid’s events that take place through the park. What you usually can expect during a typical visit to SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular are:

Trick or Treat Spots on a special pathway

Employees dressed in fun and unique costumes will mingle with the crowd

Photo ops with beautifully costumed employees

Kids can play small games to win prizes

Stations where the kids can make goodies to take home with them. This time it should have been sand art.

Unfortunately, Florida weather can be INSANE. And it was a torrential downpour the 8th and 9th. We decided to forge ahead to Orlando, since you never know how the weather might change. We got to the park at 12:30 and by the time we were settled inside with our strollers, ponchos, raincoats and a clear bathroom shower curtain (for the double stroller to keep the kids dry) – it was mostly misty. But due to concerns about the weather, the spooky trick or treating and photo ops just weren’t going on.

I was concerned, since I talked this up to my sister. My sister was concerned, because her kids wanted to do some trick-or-treating. And we just forged ahead through the path. We took some photos at the empty photo op stations and then we saw a sign. Seriously. It said “Penelope’s Party Zone”. I wasn’t sure if it was a private party, so I asked an employee who was standing nearby. He described it as,”There is music, dancing, games, food and trick or treating.”

Well, there you go! Exactly the kind of fun we were looking for. So we went in. The room was huge with lots of lights and music. Characters were encouraging all guests to mix, mingle and boogie. My niece grabbed a hula hoop and joined the crowd. My nephew loved this zany television that was catching the movements of the crowd. And my boys were a little overwhelmed by the lights and music. Ha. So I took them to the side of the room where people were taking pictures with Halloween Shamu. Unfortunately, when we stood in line there was a character change. Fortunately, it was a vampire and witch penguin. I remember meeting up with them 2 years ago in 2009 with my boys! So I had a picture taken of the boys with them. Then some trick or treating barrels opened up, so the kids hit three of those.

After that, we decided to check out the outside area around the party. My nephew flirted with some of the “sea witches”, I harassed the kids to take pictures with all the cool characters. And we got to meet a parrot that imitated other birds (like a turkey) and a cool albino milk snake. The kids loved petting that one. My husband made a candied apple – loved it. And we bought hot dogs and chicken fingers for the kids and ourselves. I would say the chicken fingers tasted better than the hot dogs this time around.

We relaxed, regrouped, and watched nearby ducks and swans swim – then headed back out to the park. We turned right and saw some trick-or-treat spots were now open. They even passed out mini bananas and nuts as an alternative to candy.

Since I still wanted more “Halloween”, we decided to watch Sesame’s Street Countdown to Halloween. It is a musical show, featuring Telly, the Count, Elmo and Abby Cadabby. They “read” a story about how the Count was alone on Halloween and how Elmo and friends helped him have a fabulous night with friends. My sister told me the songs they sing are from the movie Sesame Street – Elmo Says Boo. It was a fun show and as you sit and wait before the show, the one “human” on stage keeps the crowd and kids entertained with singing and dance moves they can join in with. During the show, our favorite part was the dancing skeletons. They were so cool!

We also visited Happy Harbor. Now, there was nothing spookified about the rides – but they were playing fun Halloween music in the area, which helped keep the Halloween spirit alive.

Finally, we hit other rides since the whole park is still open throughout their Spooktacular. We saw Shamu in One Ocean. My son was “dieing” to go, doing a dance throughout the park and singing, “Shamu-Shamu.” This One Ocean show is relatively new and it was ACTION-PACKED, really showing off what the whales can do. My oldest son, my nephew and my neice all sat in the splash zone. My son and my niece wore their raincoats to help keep their clothes somewhat dry. My brother-in-law would go between them and sitting by my sister. My sister, husband, my youngest son and I were still in the splash zone – but higher up. My husband and I had ponchos on and my youngest had his raincoat on. This show is the “splashiest” I’ve seen in a while – it was spectacular! Loved it! My 5 year old told me at the end of the night that Shamu was his favorite part. So no matter what, don’t miss it.

We also did the Penguin Encounter, Shark exhibit and fed the seals. My sister’s family did the Arctic ride, where it’s a 3-D simulation ride where you feel like you are on a helicopter ride over the arctic. My boys were too short to go with them, so we simply skipped the ride and did the walk-through to see the animals. I love the Walrus. You also see a Polar Bear and porpoises. The porpoises and walruses were so ACTIVE, swimming and doing flips. The polar bear was sleeping.

That was our family-fun, spooktacular day. My sister is still going to go back to ride the coasters. There is so much to do every time she goes, she still hasn’t had the opportunity to ride them all. SeaWorld is that full of activities for the whole family, for a whole day.

MORE ABOUT THE SEAWORLD SPOOKTACULAR:

During the holidays, it can be tough to pick and choose what family events to take your children to. So far the Mom Buzz crew started off our Christmas Celebrations with SeaWorld. What I was most excited about initially was The Sea of Trees, which features dozens of massive trees, each sparkling, lighted and choreographed to classic holiday tunes around the center. Plus, they brought back a lot of family faves from last year, like Winter Wonderland on Ice, THE POLAR EXPRESS Experience and Shamu Christmas…Miracles.

I brought my Dad (57-ish) and the boys (almost 3 and 4.5) to celebrate the season and make some holiday memories. We started of with Clyde and Seamore’s Countdown to Christmas. Clyde and Seamore are comic seals – usually showing off their tricks and stunts with their little otter friend and giant walrus pal in a Pirate Show. But this time they got especially goofy as they prepared for the arrival of Santa! From braving the Christmas Shopping rush to decorating the set, the seals had everything ready for Santa with the help of their human friends and a few elves! I have to say, my Dad was CRACKING UP so hard at the mime in the beginning. And both he and the kids really enjoyed the show. For the kids – it was something new, since they are really used to the Pirate Show. And for my dad, I think he really enjoyed the tricks these guys had up their flippers!

Next, we did some “normal” park sites that the boys just HAD to see – like the SHARK Encounter. Once again, I always love seeing things through my boys’ eyes, as they look at these toothy sharks with wide-eyed wonder. But my dad was just taking it all in, as he walked through the underwater tunnel where you see a myriad of sharks and rays swimming beside and above you.

My Dad (Babu) and the boys in front of Polar Express

Next we saw Shamu Christmas – Miracles. Classic holiday music accompanies the orcas as they soar through the air in a story of the everyday miracles that surround us all year long. There are small clips of children and adults sharing what they think a miracle is, a symphonic soundtrack, live singing and amazing flips, dives and splashes from a huge group of whales! My almost 3-year old was hugging his Shamu doll so tight as he watched silently in amazement. And my 4 year old made sure he had the best seat on our bench, never really sure whether to see the action on the huge screen or the water below.

After that, I wanted the boys to have the Polar Express Experience. They were too short to do the simulated ride (42″ or taller) so we watched the movie-only version. After the movie you are in the “North Pole”, so you get to see an AWESOME Santa and your kids can get their picture taken with them. I heard during the day the line was ginormous, but at night there was really no wait at all. Then we admired the whales, polar bears and walrus – I  the walrus – my favorite animal! I think my dad had no clue how big they really are, so once again he just WATCHED it. They are amazingly graceful in the water, considering they are the size of a car!

I ran into Lee from MySentimentExactLee.com - we are in front of Sea of Trees.

We stopped by the gift shop right after that and picked up a great SeaWorld Christmas Ornament (Shamu wearing a Santa Hat) and then started out to see if we could catch the penguins before they closed the exhibit. On the way we were distracted by the Winter Wonderland on Ice. Ice skaters amazed and dazzled as they skated in pairs and groups to Christmas music. After the last show you can also enjoy a backdrop of towering fountains of water dancing on the lake and fireworks that light up the night sky.

We never did make it out to the penguins – but I think my 4 year old will forgive me eventually for that bad time-management on my part! The park closes at 11pm on Christmas Celebration Dates, from now until January 2nd. Check to see celebration dates at www.SeaWorld.com.

Now, we didn’t catch everything when we were there. We did miss A Sesame Street Christmas. Abby Cadabby doesn’t understand what all the fuss is about, since she’s never heard of Christmas. Through dance, laughter and interactive sing-a-longs, Elmo, Telly Monster and the rest of her Sesame Street friends teach Abby what Christmas means to them.

You don’t need to pay extra for this nighttime event. If you buy a day pass and/or are already an annual passholder, you can enjoy SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration. That said, Annual Passes are a great gift idea! And right now with the purchase of an Annual Pass, you will receive three months free to enjoy all the park’s benefits, such as amazing animal encounters, thrill rides and world-class shows. It was a hoot, when they were only 3 and 1. I strolled them in their EasyWalker, they received little bags and we stopped at the Trick-or-Treat stations around the park. Plus, they got to see some favorite characters dressed in their Halloween best.

Well, this year we went again – this time bringing the husband with us. Although last year we went during the week, this time we hit it up on a Saturday. The parking lot was crowded, but inside the lines for the Halloween Spooktacular were very doable and not long at all. One of my favorite surprises was that the line to visit Shamu in his Pirate Gear was so short. That was the only picture my oldest wanted to do, though. My youngest posed with Abby Cadabby and witches, though.

One of the best things about the Spooktacular is that it is NOT a separate event. If you pay for a ticket to the park ($68.95), you get to participate in the Spooktacular at noon. It takes place only in one section of the park. Just follow the path and you’ll see trick-or-treat stations, Abby Cadabby’s maze, plus this year they had more games (you had to pay around $3 per game to win prizes – everyone is a winner) and activity stations. Another perk is that it is a daytime event, so you don’t have to worry about keeping little ones up past bedtime.

There is one Halloween-themed show, but we missed it. It is the Countdown to Halloween with all of the Sesame Street Characters. You can also reserve a Halloween breakfast experience with Count Von Count. We have done the Elmo breakfast in the past and the kids loved it, so I am sure this would have been a hit, as well. The breakfast is $18 for adults and $16 for kids (3 – 9). We did manage to catch the Blue Horizons show, which was as spectacular as always. And I loved how they changed it up with the addition of a new porpoise. The boys were enthralled by the mix of acrobatics, divers, birds and dolphins.

If you haven’t gone yet, it’s not too late. This is the final stretch for the Spooktacular, as it will run every day from October 29th to the 31st. Learn more by visiting the Spooktacular site for SeaWorld.

This is solely the opinion of the Mom Buzz. The Mom Buzz was not compensated for this buzz. The Mom Buzz did receive 3 complimentary tickets to SeaWorld to participate in the Spooktacular. Other people may have different experiences with the product. And don’t forget to enter my other hot contests so you can win and try buzzworthy products!
The boys at 36″ are just too teeny to get the most out of a water park, so I put it off. But July is his birthday – so the man should get what he wants at least for his birthday, right?

So we left the kids with my parents and my husband and I went to Aquatica in Orlando. It is just AWESOME. It’s definitely family-friendly and I saw a lot of teeny kids in life vests, but to get the most enjoyment out of the attractions 48″ and taller is the best height.

First off, it’s clean, attractive and everything is in tip-top condition. The Aquatica staff was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful.

We went on a Friday and the longest wait was around 45 minutes – that was for the Dolphin Plunge.

The Dolphin Plunge is a huge drop that goes down a dark tube… suddenly it lights up and you find yourself…under water with Commerson Dolphins swimming by! You get a quick peek at them … as they look at you in return… then splash out into the pool on the bottom. It is amazing! Here is a video so you get the idea.

The next longest wait was for Tassie’s Twisters. It is just a cool ride that you can ride single or double on. You sit in a tube for this one. You shoot down the slide into a giant bowl where, depending on friction, weight and speed, you go around…around…around…and maybe around one or two more times …. then you get sucked down ANOTHER slide into a lazy river below. I was so dizzy after that one … in a good way! Here is the best video I could find to show you the “bowl” part.

The rest of the rides had around 20 minute waits, which went by real quick. There was a line for Walhalla Wave & HooRoo Run. Both are circle raft rides – but one is for 3 or 4 people while the other is 1 or 2 people. I forget which one was which … but obviously we went on the one for two people, with hubby sitting across from me. It’s pretty much a straight shoot down on the raft, but we definitely got air. Lots of fun!

Tamauta Racer was another SCARY one. I did see kids coming back down, since they got scared and wouldn’t go through with it. You have a special foam mat that you lie on, holding onto handle bars. And you go ZOOMING down this slide – 8 people go at a time, each in a different lane. It’s a race to see who gets down the fastest. Heavier people do have an advantage here! I definitely needed to get some courage to face this downhill slide, but it was SO WORTH IT. Want to see it? Check out the video below.

Whanua Way was another ride that you can go down inner tubes as a single or double. I went down with hubby behind me – and there are definitely surprises as you zoom down this slide with bumps that make you fly into the air – you think you are going to hit your head as you go down the next enclosed tube – but you always land in time. Loads of fun! We went on this twice! I will say that if you have a lot of shorties, they will have trouble maneuvering the steps with their inner tubes, so adult supervision and assistance required. I saw lots of dads holding two tubes at a time. (Hehe)

Finally, you can’t forget OMAKA ROCKA. Omaka Rocka is a waterslide taste of half-pipe, near-vertical thrills previously experienced in the past only by daring skateboarders and snowboarders. You speed down flumes into massive funnels, sliding high up one side and then the other, rocking back and forth, feeling a sensation of near weightlessness. Coming out of the funnel, you skim into a drenching splashdown. I have to say, I went down backwards half the time and it was unnerving … in a fun way. Like you couldn’t see what was coming. Can we say … AWESOME!

There are also two “rivers” – one lazy and the other “rapids”. Plus an AWESOME kids area that I could see from high atop some of the slides. They had water pouring, things to climb, water guns to shoot and smaller slides. The little ones looked like they could have hours of fun in Kata’s Kookaburra Cove – where you have to be under 48″ to enjoy.

Tickets start at $41.95 for this fun experience. Adults might be able to get away without renting a locker, if you wear your bathing suit in, keep a credit card and idea in your shorts, spray lotion at the parking lot and don’t use a towel. That said, we rented a locker to hold our shoes, lotion, sunglasses and dry clothes. Locker rentals are approximately $10, depending on the size needed, though. Parking was $12.

Overall, Aquatica is unbelievable. My husband is already talking about going back. It was such a blast and a great idea to cool off this summer. And you can also save more with Aquatica’s After 2 p.m. Pass, which will give you unlimited Aquatica thrills and fun and no black out dates for the rest of 2010, all for $49.95, adult and kids. That’s only slightly more than a day’s admission. There’s no better way to beat the heat than with Florida’s coolest beach – and rock the all-new Omaka Rocka – again and again, all year long.

It is said to be completely unique, with high-speed tubes and half-pipe funnels that’ll have riders splashing and sliding frontward and backward and climbing the walls. Riders will be speeding down flumes into massive funnels, sliding high up one side and then the other, rocking back and forth, feeling a sensation of near weightlessness. When they come out of the funnel, they’ll skim into a drenching splashdown and then find themselves wanting to do it all over again.

Pretty much, Omaka Rocka is a waterslide taste of half-pipe, near-vertical thrills previously experienced only by daring skateboarders and snowboarders. Sounds heart-pounding! It will be the first waterslide of its kind in the world, so be prepared! Omaka Rocka opens this spring.

We never did SO MUCH in one month before, just to celebrate Halloween. But the boys got A LOT out of it! They thought everyday was Halloween and loved dressing up, watching Halloween-themed movies, reading Halloween- themed books and all of the trick-or-treating!

Most recently we did the SeaWorld Spooktacular. I thought I was going to be able to attend earlier in the month, but the boys had gotten sick. But we managed to go on October 30th and it was a fabulous daytime event. It began at noon and part of the park was roped off for easy trick-or-treating. There were sweet options, as well as healthy alternatives like pretzels and mini-bananas! They boys LOVED those pretzels, though. Plus, there was a fun maze area where you had to help Abby Cadabby find her magic wand. The maze is full of colorful illustrations, little puzzles and BUBBLES! Plus, at the end the boys were able to meet Abby Cadabby in person! She got a big hug from them.

One of the boy’s highlights was the Penguins. Yes, we did some of the regular shows and sites at the park since it was ALL OPEN. The boys love penguins … so we had to get a picture with this Fangtastic one we found!

Overall, I love how as a passholder I could just visit the park and not pay extra for this event. That’s one great perk over some other Halloween options. The second plus is that it is a daytime event, so I don’t have to worry about keeping the boys up past bedtime.

But like I said, we saw and did a lot more this Halloween! But this was a perfect way to almost end the Howliday. (Of course we did Trick or Treating on the 31st!)

Keep an ear open for Spooktacular details for the upcoming year. And I am sure that SeaWorld has something awesome planned for Christmas!

But thankfully it’s not too late, there are still two weekends left to attend. Wondering why we are so anxious to go? Well, it sounds like a fun! Here is the buzz:

During SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular, trick-or-treaters can help Sesame Street’s Abby Cadabby search for her magic wand. This adventure is filled with interactive puzzles, sights and sounds as an entire family cavorts around the 4,000 square foot outdoor pathway during Abby Cadabby’s Halloween Adventure. Plus, Abby Cadabby will be around for added smiles, photographs, and hugs throughout the day.

Another one of Sesame Street’s favorite residents, The Count, along with his friends from Sesame, are getting into the Halloween spirit, with Count Von Count’s Spooktacular Breakfast. I had attended the Elmo & Friends Breakfast before which was a total blast! I am sure this is just the same, as little ones sing, groove and mingle side-by-side with Sesame Street characters, while listening to Halloween-themed music and enjoying a special breakfast “boo”-ffet. Following the breakfast, kids can have their photos taken with the characters for memories that will last forever.

SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular is an “Ocean of Halloween Fun” where kids can trick-or-treat for ghoulish goodies, meet amazing sea creatures, catch silly and spooky shows and more. The last two weekends to experience SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular are Saturday and Sunday, October 24-25, and Friday and Saturday October 30-31. It begins each day at 12 p.m. and is included in park admission. You can visit SeaWorldSpooktacular.com for more details.
