Back in 2010 I had buzzed MyVintageBaby, which – despite its name – truly had fashions for children from size 0 to 16. There are even some women’s options, which delightfully complement the girl’s line. But since the name was a little deceiving, they have made a slight adjustment to their name, becoming Vintage Couture!

When I first saw their fashions 2 years ago, I fell in love with their line of designer clothes for boys, because they were so different than the styles you typically find at other popular, big-box retailers. You can visit the older post to see the styles my then 4 year old was wearing (link at bottom of post). He still has that Rock King shirt, which I adore. And although they don’t have that style available on their site anymore, since they update seasonally, there are other shirts that are just as cool.

Today I am featuring my favorite boy items from their Fall/Holiday and Winter selection. And don’t delay, because the collection is on sale in January for Buy One, Get One to make way for new Spring Styles! Now, my usual model was in school, so I had my less cooperative son dress-up for me. He is wearing the following items:

Camo Cargo Pant (BOYF1114)

Cream Button-Down Shirt (BOYF1137)

Candy Cane Kisses Plaid Shirt (BOYF1130)

Styles go fast at Vintage Couture, especially with the sale going on, so if you see something you like – grab it FAST. My husband loved all three pieces and wished he had something similar in his closet, especially the Cream Button-Down Shirt and Camo Cargo Pant.

And even though I don’t have a girl, it doesn’t mean I don’t have an eye for girl fashions. My niece keeps me on my toes and searching for high-quality styles that will differentiate her from a crowd. Right now for chilly weather, Vintage Couture is staying with the trend of animal prints to create 3 fabulous girl coats. They come in Grey Leopard, Tan Leopard and, my personal favorite, Pink Zebra!

Along with children’s fashions, Vintage Couture also carries:

Diaper Bags

18″ Doll Apparel

Women’s Apparel

Girl Accessories

Buzzworthy: If you like the styles, consider hosting a trunk show! You can even be your own boss by becoming a direct representative! The styles practically sell themselves, especially with your own children to model.

Me Giant is a new children’s line that has a unique way of packaging up their subtly cool tees, onesies and other accessories. They all come packages in a small (perfect for toys and snacks), retro, tin lunchbox! The unique packaging, combined with well-designed, high quality products makes Me Giant win-win in my opinion. Products are for newborns up to size 4T.

My youngest just turned 4T, so he was my model for this review. We chose the Ribbit Ribbit says the Dinosaur tee in long-sleeve. The fit was perfect, with the sleeves extending just barely past his wrists and the length being just past his waist. My son is 90th percentile in height and slim, to give you an idea on fit. Currently I have him wearing 4s in pants and shirts, with some 5T shirts to allow for growth. I was thinking the 4T might end up being too tight or small, but it’s just perfect for this winter.

Lots of tees we review are thinner material, which makes them soft and perfect for hot summer days. But with weather hitting the 20s right now, I need something thicker for my son, yet still comfortable. The long sleeve tee from Me Giant was PERFECT for now. It is thicker, high quality, 100% jersey cotton. All the tees come in white, with your choice of long sleeve or short. They don’t seem to feature too many long sleeve pics on their site, so to the right is my son in his. He just measured 42.5″ today and is 36.6 pounds, so he’s a little taller than the suggested height for the 4T, still the fit rocks. But definitely pay attention to the sizing chart when ordering.

The designs are simplistic and not overdone. It gives them a modish look, clean and “cool”. Goes just as well with jeans, sweatpants, shorts or khakis.

My top pick was the Ribbit Ribbit says the Dinosaur, which is funny in a kid-appreciated way. It’s my top pick for boys. If I had a girl, I’d probably choose the Oui Oui says the Poodle. You can see a complete selection of kid tee designs here: Funny Kid T-Shirts

Tees and onesies (aka creepers) are currently $25 each. You can pick up bibs and hats for $15.

Not only did I love the style and subtle holiday colors, but the price was unbeatable. Both of my frame choices were between $29.95 and $39.95!

How does Zenni Optical do that? Well, they remove the middleman, the retail stores and the resulting mark-up.
I got Lasik 5 years ago, which was absolutely fabulous. But honestly, I missed my frames a lot! I had all sorts of styles, depending on my mood. My favorites were a pair of chunky black plastic frames and my practically invisible thin wire frames.

Well, if you like changing your mood with your frames, you should check out the eyeglasses from ZenniOptical.com. Many of their frames come in fabulously festive holiday colors, but with chic (and affordable) style. One set of frames that I loved were these black frames, accented in gold with a holly green color inside the frame. And this designer look is only $29.95!

I also liked these cranberry, titanium half-rim frame that had a sparkle of shiny gems. This fashionable frame is available for $39.95.

Not only do these glasses help get you in the “frame” of mind for Christmas. But they are also affordable, saving you a lot of money to spend on other holiday necessities! With the money you save on eyeglasses, you can purchase that Rebel Camera you’ve had your eye on, a bottle of wine for whoever is hosting Christmas dinner or that Angry Bird chew toy for your dog!

Check out the selection of cheap eyeglasses at ZenniOptical.com for yourself to find a new look for the New Year! Their selection is huge! What frames would you choose for yourself?

Happy Buzzing!

***

My Color Laser Photo Charm. Really clear in real life! Hard to get a good photo.

I am going to tell you to bookmark this gift idea for Valentine’s and Mother’s Day, because it might be tight to order this in time for Christmas. Unless you are looking to use up some Gift Cards, if you were a lucky recipient this year!

The site is PicturesOnGold.com. They create customized lockets, charms, fingerprint jewelry, medical jewelry and more. One unique embellishment they can do is place personal pictures on your jewelry to last a lifetime. They do this either through Color Laser Photo Engraving or Laser Photo Engraving.

With Color Laser Photo Engraving their machinery will imprint your photo permanently in full color as a full photo quality image. With Laser Photo Engraving a combination of technicians and machinery will engrave your pendant deeply and very detailed. The engraved process gives your pendant a hologram look that sparkles when worn.

I actually received the Color Laser Photo Engraving and it was amazingly brigh and detailed. It was done on a genuine sterling silver heart pendant (1″ x 1.12″) and sent with an 18″ Sterling Silver Box Chain. The pendant was $69.95 and the chain was $25.95. They even were able to engrave on the back of the pendant. I chose a picture of my boys in their Super Hero Bathing Suits for the front and on the back had “My Super Heroes” engraves in block print.

I love the charm and necklace. In hindsight, if you are going to place an order I suggest going with the Laser Photo Engraving and using a script for the back. I thought the lettering was going to be smaller, so the block print would have been easier to see. But since the charm is so large, the script would have been very fitting and more feminine for the wearer.

I do want to say, I love the technicians who work there, because I can tell they edited my photo seamlessly to fit the charm better. THANK YOU!

For the Photo Engraving, there are countless products to choose from. There are hearts, ovals, circles and more. You can choose from Sterling Silver or Gold. And there are also charms, necklaces, keychains, etc. It’s simply a fabulous gift idea! I can’t wait to show off my necklace to my friends and family!

When looking at my friends Facebook updates, I see a few of them are in a panic, still trying to get holiday shopping done! Well, if you are looking for a holiday gift idea for a “green” friend – one who likes to reuse and recycle in a fun, fashionable way – consider LIV GRN perfume.

I’ve had the opportunity to sample LIV GRN Natural and love the fresh rose smell that I could almost immediately sense and was gentle and not overpowering throughout the day.

The top notes of LIV GRN Natural are Lime, Neroli and Orange Flower. Neroli is sweet and citrusy, so it fits in well with the Lime and Orange Flower. This smell is what you may immediately notice, but it evaporates quickly into the middle notes.

The middle notes are where you will really sense the Rose, Geranium and Cyclamen. Cyclamen is a light, sweet floral scent. (Some people say Cyclamen has NO scent, which would make no sense for it to be in a perfume. So it might be too light from them to notice.) I love Geranium, but I think the Rose is dominating as the mid note.

Finally, at the end of the day you may notice Jasmine, Egyptian Musk and Pear making their entrance. Jasmine petals usually open in the evening, so it’s a great time for the Jasmine in the perfume to be noticed if you put it on at the start of the day.

Overall, I loved LIV GRN Natural. It is available as a Roller Ball perfume (10 ml, $15), which would be a great stocking stuffer. You can also purchase a 3.4 fl oz bottle for $60. It presents beautifully as a gift, arriving in a small, wooden box.

This review was for LIV GRN Natural, but you can also learn more about their other perfume collections at LIVGRN.com. LIVGRN products are available online at LIVGRN, or you can check their website for store locations that carry LIVGRN Products.

Dressing for the winter-time can be tricky. Especially here in Florida, where layering is key as you start the morning at 50 degrees, it rises to 80 in the afternoon and then a front will bring the weather plummeting to the 30s for the evening. We do so many clothing combos here.

One of my favorite looks when I send my son to school is a plain long sleeve tee under his school polo. But, I was having trouble finding a good white tee to layer under the polo. The only one I found locally was too silky, really meant for athletics. But then I heard about Soft Clothing, which has a line of seamless, tagless clothes for kids. You know kids hate itchy tags and bothersome seams. Now imagine multiplying that issue through layers. Definitely, Soft Clothing sounded perfect to me.

They sent a basic white long sleeve shirt for review. It was tagless, had a wide collar and it was SO SOFT – 100% cotton. It was amazingly soft. Like baby soft! And they use flat seaming to sew the shirt, which gives the shirt a seamless feel. The label is actually printed on the tee, so you know months from now what size it is, where it’s made and what it’s made of. The tee is designed for children with sensory sensitivity, but it is just amazingly comfortable and I wish they had a collection in adult sizes.

I’ve been having my son wear this white long sleeve tee under his uniform polo, but 5 other colors are available. There is also gold, heather gray, navy, raspberry and red. I have my eye on the heather gray, navy and red for the boys. All they need is black!

I’ve already washed the tee and it washed well, marker and dirt marks on the sleeves came right off. It didn’t shrink. It fits true-to-size. Size S, the size I got, is the equivalent of a 4/5. They retail for $15.00 on SoftClothing.net.

***

Speaking of comfort, we also received samples of their seamless organic underwear for children. Unlike the elastic band on other underwear, this one uses the hugging sensation of a thick, cotton/spandex material – making it soft and comfortable. It is really seamless – I have no clue how, but it was done on custom machinery. There is practically nothing on there that can cause your child to be uncomfortable. No seams, covered elastic, unique cut and very soft. It is made from a combination of organic cotton and soft spandex. I just loved the briefs and boxers they sent as samples. Medium fits a size 6/7 and Small fits a 4/5.

The site does say the underwear is unisex. But when I received the samples, the briefs were labeled “girls” and the boxers “boys”. I really don’t think it makes a difference gender-wise. They come in white, solid colored and striped blue or red. The red color is bright and vivid, but not a deep red. The blue is aqua-ish. You can purchase them singly for $11 each or in a 3-pack for $30.

For the past year I’ve been wanting to make tie-dye snowman shirts for my boys. The idea was to somehow tie-dye a shirt with a blank “snowman” design on it, and then fill in the features of the snowman with paint, markers and other crafty items. I did find a tie-dye tutorial to complete my project, but it looked a little … wet and messy. I would have to get balls of different shapes, rubber band them on the shirt, soak the shirts, let them dry, remove the balls, then fill in the features. I would have done it that way… if I didn’t find a better technique. But some online research introduced me to Simply Spray Fabric Paint.

Simply Spray Fabric Paint looked easy to use … and I was right! Below are the items I used and the steps I took to create my shirts. Please allow 4 days to complete the project. As you read the directions, you will understand why.

MATERIALS:

White t-shirts

Simply Spray in various shades of blue

Something to “block” the spray on the shirt. I used 3 vitamin container tops of various sizes

Fabric Markers

Buttons, bells, etc as desired

Towels or something to cover the spray area

Plastic to stick inside the shirt to keep the paint from passing to the other side,

Directions:

Place a white t-shirt on your working top.

Place your container tops onto the shirt in the shape of a snowman.

Scrunch the shirt all around, making sure to maintain your snowman

Spray a color of your choice on the shirt

Unscrunch shirt and then rescrunch in a different way.

Spray a second shade onto the shirts.

Keep spraying and scrunching until you have a pattern you like.

When you are done with the front, remove your circles. Then put that piece of plastic or an old shirt into the original shirt and turn the shirt you are designing upside down. Now scrunch the back of the shirt and spray using the same method as before.

When you are done spraying, hang the shirt to dry for 72 hours.

Wash the shirt and dry, as per package directions.

Now you can add snowman features using Fabric Marker and/or t-shirt paint. Follow manufacturer directions re: washing and drying.

One the features are in place, you can sew on buttons or bells, if desired, to accessorize your shirt.

WEAR and ENJOY!

MY THOUGHTS: This project was simple enough that my almost 4-year old could work on his shirt with my help. I was neat doing it myself, but when he sprayed he did get my hands and shorts. And since it’s fabric paint, it didn’t come off my shorts. It did wash off my hands with soap and water.

I think these paints would be fun to use at a playdate or party! Let kids design their own shirts quickly without huge tubs of water! And I can’t wait to try out the orange and black for some Halloween Pumpkin shirts!

My only tips are to make sure you wear old clothes when doing this. And make sure you completely turn off the can after you spray. You have to manually click it off at the trigger. If you don’t do that, the aerosol will escape. I made the mistake of not clicking one can and I ran out of aerosol even though there was still paint in there.

PRODUCT INFORMATION: There are currently 13 colors to choose from. You can purchase Simply Spray for approximately $4.95 a can, which can do multiple shirts. I still have spray after doing 4 shirts! I used a mix of three blues. You can also buy 3 packs for around $13.50 and a party pack of 6 cans for $25.00. You can purchase Simply Spray online or at craft stores like JoAnn’s and Michael’s.

For all you women going to holiday parties, you may be daring enough to paint your own nails rather than going to a salon for a manicure. If you need help getting your nails just right, you might want to try Liquid Palisade.

Liquid Palisade is like painters tape for your nails. You simply brush it on – and it provides a protective barrier that covers the cuticles during nail polish application, keeping the cuticle and skin free of nail polish color for the perfect manicure (or pedicure.) Liquid Palisade dries very quickly, before you polish, and then peels off easily and guarantees a perfect color line.

You can also use Liquid Palisade to make funky, chic designs. They suggest painting your nails a solid color. Then applying Liquid Palisade in a design (stripes, spots, etc). Then painting over it with a new color. When you peel off the Liquid Palisade, you will see the first color in the design! Neat, right?

You can see videos on how to apply Liquid Palisade here: Liquid Palisade Designs

Although, I love this video review by NailsByAsami. She just did wonderful things with the product.

MY EXPERIENCE: Now, I am the type of person that purchased those faux nails from Broadway when I go out, because I can rarely paint my nails successfully. Mostly, I move around too much to let them dry. I did find I had that same problem with Liquid Palisade. The first time I tried it, I let it dry too long and they peeled off before I even applied my nail polish. The second time I tried, I think I didn’t wait long enough and it ended up smearing with my nail polish. I think if I tried a third time, I might actually have success. Especially now that I have that tutorial above to follow! But mostly, there is some trial and error when you first use it. But I do think with practice and the right user, you can have a spectacular set of nails.
