GET BOLD SUMMER COLOR
Normally I do a simple dark brown or black. But this summer stylists are saturating the season with a bold, bright look that screams fun in the sun. Update your look with a brand new hue and remember to save 20% off your color service! Some 2012 hair trends to consider:

A few well-placed streaks of color that contrast with your hair color. I love purple for dark hair and pink for light hair.

Go ombre with darker near the roots and lighter at the ends. For example, I could go from ebony on top to a glossy light brown on the bottom. Blondes can try sun-kissed ends and medium-blonde lowlights.

Multi-hued is hot, adding definition to your style with 2 or 3 colored hues featured in your hair. You can stick to hues that blend in or opt for the bold trend by trying unique hues of reds, blues, and violet in your hair.

The color this summer season isn’t blonde or over the top highlights. The word on the runway is that coppers, auburns and chestnut browns will have plenty of fun this summer.

Finally, Pinterest is full of rainbow-inspired dip-dyed multi-lights. Try it out on summer vacation to let your wild side loose!

SHARE THE SAVINGS! Tweet the deal to friends, family and followers!

With Spring here … and Summer around the corner …. remember to keep BabyLegs packed in your tote, purse and diaper bag. BabyLegs legwarmers are perfect for all ages and all seasons. Babies, Toddlers, Kids, Tweens, Teens and Adults can all benefit from the features and style of these arm and leg warmers.

For Babies, it means you can keep the kids in an easy-access diaper at home but still keep their legs warm enough in air conditioning.

For Crawlers, it can protect their knees from carpet burn when their wear their summer shorts as they get their groove on.

For Toddlers, Preschoolers and Kids, I like them for multiple reasons. One, they just look cool. You can wear matching pairs with shorts. Use one as an Arm Warmer and one as a Leg Warmer for some serious style. I personally like to bring them to the pool. When the kids come out they are often shivering in the breeze, so BabyLegs help warm them up a little quicker. They are also great for additional protection from a steamy sun, offering protection from UV rays.

The BabyCool collection has BabyLegs made with a Rayosan process to provide UPF protection of 50+!

Tweens, Teens and Adults can also benefit from BabyLegs for style, warmth and protection. Is a classroom or office too cold? Keep BabyLegs in a backpack or purse to add some warmth as they study or you work! And for moms who get too much sun while watching their kids play at parks or in the pool, once again BabyLegs is there to offer some sun protection.

Top 3 Picks for Boys:

Top 3 Picks for Girls:

Overall, we love them and I keep a pair close-at-hand all the time! BabyLegs brand is super soft and very durable. They fit my kids when they were babies and still fit now that they are 4 and 6. BabyLegs retail for $10 – $15 each on www.babylegs.com. There are SO MANY styles to choose from! Stripes, Spots, Dinosaurs, Ruffles and tons more. Go ahead and pin your favorites! You can shop by collection, color, gender and design!

When I go clothes shopping these days, I only have eyes for items that will fit my kids. Nothing is more fun than dressing them cute and casual throughout the seasons. So when I find something stylish, I have to get it!

So I am super excited about the mix and match styles from OshKosh B’gosh this Spring! They have an amazing children’s selection of tanks, shorts, tees, tunics and leggings starting at just $6.95.

For the little ladies, my favorite mix and match outfits is combined with a Baby Girl in mind, but sizing goes up to 5T! I am all about Star-Style for Fourth of July, which is part of their All American You Collection! And truthfully, OshKosh B’gosh did all the mixing and matching for me – making it so easy!

This Star-Style outfit is made up of:

1. 2-Piece Stars and Stripes Tankini: Absolutely adorable tankini! Provides great coverage for little girls, but still with sassy style.

2. Sleeveless Striped Jersey Dress: An adorable red, white and blue striped jersey dress – comfortable in warm weather and a great cover up for pool parties and beach side barbecues.

3. 4th of July Flip Flop: Even wee ones need to accessorize and these flip-flops will help this outfit steal the show!

Now, don’t think I’ll leave my boys out! I actually usually buy them matching clothes and I love that I can in this instance find complementing outfits from their Boy styles. My top choices for boys also came from the All American You Collection, full of red, white and blue spirit!

1. Striped Polo Shirt: I would get each boy one of these – one with large blue stripes and the other with large red stripes

2. Canvas Cargo Shorts: Adjustable waist for skinny waists and lots of pockets to hold matchbox cars!

3. Slip-on Sneakers: Love the blue and white stripes. When they aren’t wearing their Crocs, they can easily rock these casual kicks!

You can shop online for these styes and deals, or you can also take the time to shop at a local OshKosh B’gosh store.

Oldest wearing Double D Blackberry

Since we are in Florida, we spend A LOT of time outdoors. Play dates at the playground. Chilling at the local or my sister’s pool. Beach Days. Beach Vacations. Theme parks. You name it, our Spring and Summer is mostly spent outdoors.

In my day tote – for outings with the kids – I remember to pack snacks for rumbly tummies. Drinks and water to stay hydrated. A tiny first-aid kit for the inevitable ouchies. Sun Lotion to protect against sunburn and skin damage. And finally, sunglasses. My theory is that if I am wearing sunglasses, the kids will need sunglasses. Sunglasses are just as important as Sun Lotion, preventing sun damage. Yes, even eyes can be damaged by UV rays! So you are not fully prepared for an outside outing with the kids unless you have their shades!

Think of how many pairs you own. Right now I own three. (Soon to be 4, once I buy a pair at a cute sunglasses shop I found in St. Augustine!) That is a pair for me to have on my window sill, a pair in my purse and a pair in the car. To ensure my kids have glasses when THEY need them, I keep a pair for them in those same spots. And when I put on my sunglasses, I remind them to put on their sunglasses.

In fact, I just asked my 5 year old why we wear sunglasses. And he told me because you have to protect yourself from the sun. Cute, right?!

And cuter still are the children’s sunglasses styles at my go-to online sunglasses shop – EyesCreamShades.com. Do you know they recently updated their website AND their selection. They have the CUTEST pairs of sunglasses for toddlers, too small for my boys’ heads. They have great styles for boy and girl tweens. And the children’s selection is humongous. I am just waiting for some adult styles so I can match my smashin’ niece one day! *Hint*Hint*

Youngest wearing Grape Ice

The sunglasses from EyesCreamShades are in the mid-prices. They aren’t implulse-buy priced. And they aren’t mega-brand priced. They are perfectly in the middle. And you get what you pay for! Sturdy, stylish sunglasses that will last years. I think my youngest (now 4) has been wearing his Licorice and Ocean Ice for 2 – 3 years. That is AMAZING, right? No lenses have fallen out, no screws have gotten loose.

But here are my favorite Children’s Sunglasses Styles for Spring and Summer 2012:

My oldest can pull off retro colors and styles like no one’s business. His favorite pair of sunglasses was the white Vanilla Malt, which is no longer available. Bummer … except now you can reach for the Double D Blackberry. Double D sunglasses are made for boys, with thicker sides along the temples and a unique lens shape that is more “masculine”. The Blackberry color is the color of a red wine stain, very in. The lenses are polycarbonate and dark grey. The top picture is my 5 year old sporting his at the pool.

My niece wearing Deliciously Diva

I am still a fan of the original Iced Flavors style, which had translucent colored frames and more oval-ish lenses. My 4 year old usually wears blue or black, but for Spring and the upcoming summer he now has a stylish purple option – thanks to Grape Ice. The lenses on these are polycarbonate with a gradient smoke color. You can see him sporting Grape Ice above.

Finally, for the girls you can’t go wrong with either of the Divalicious or Deliciously Diva styles. They really have two different looks for them. For comparison I have my niece sporting both the Divalicious Licorice Ice and the Deliciously Diva Licorice Ice. The easiest way to separate the two styles is that Deliciously Diva has a little more Oomph while Divalicious is more celeb-classic.

For example, Divalicious has the oversized frame with the huge, circular lenses. It’s a solid frame in various colors, Black for Licorice Ice. The lens is polycarbonate, dark grey.

Deliciously Diva, the one with more oomph, has a lens that separates from the frame on the outer sides. The frames are translucent, giving them a smoky appearance. The are also more rectangular on the outer frames, but still over-sized. They have a polycarbonate smoke lens that I just LOVE.

Which one would I choose if I could only choose one … probably the Divalicious line for my niece, who is almost 7. But I have to admit that I’d probably go with the Deliciously Diva frames for tweens.

And I tried on the glasses on my adult head and they just don’t fit. So they are definitely designed for the 14 and younger crowd.

My niece wearing Divalicious Licorice Ice

Whatever style you choose, all EyesCreamShades feature the polycarbonate lenses, which are thinner, lighter and shatter resistant compared to other lenses. And they all feature 100% UVA and UVB protection against harmful ultraviolet sunlight. All of the glasses featured above are $39.95. They will last for YEARS – even when used and abused at the beach and pool!

One of the ways that you can use them is to decorate your garments with them as fringe ornaments. You can sew coin beads at the edge of your skirt or blouse to add flare on your clothes. In fact, if you happen to love belly dancing then you can decorate the fringe of your belly dancing outfit with coin beads. Different coin beads come with different designs and color.

Moreover, they are also made from different materials but they are mostly made from alloy metals so that they are very cheap. If you want to decorate your clothes with coin beads, you need to use a beading thread that is durable and will hold your coin beads well without breaking easily especially when you make a lot of movements while dancing. Coin beads are usually heavy because they are usually thick but you can also get coin beads that are thin.

The best thing about coin beads is that they come in different designs, thickness and details so you can choose the ones that you think are appropriate for your outfit. When you sew coin beads on the fringe of your clothes, you need to make sure that the beading thread is tightly secured in place. It is also important to loop the thread several times through the coin beads so that they will not easily fall off from the fringe of your clothes. Beadsbarn offers a large selection of coin beads now.

So I started running to prep for my Zombie 5k in November. I started off by wearing my Adidas, which I thought were a running shoe. But unfortunately, I developed shin splints with them. Ouch! So I went to Dicks Sporting Goods and started trying on running shoes. The first pair I tried on, I told my husband I couldn’t see what made them special. They felt like any other sneaker I ever wore. So I kept trying on pairs, wondering why I’d pay extra for these just because they threw “running” in the name.

Finally, as a lark, I picked up a pair of more expensive running shoes and told my husband that these must feel different if they cost so much. When I put them on, it was amazing. It was wrapped securely around my foot, like a second sock. And the cushioning and bounce it provided with each step was amazing. The brand was Brooks Running and they had three different women’s styles to choose from (Pure Flow, Pure Cadence and Pure Connect), but I decided on the first style I tried on – Pure Connect. It retailed for $90.

At the store they only had the aqua/white to choose from – which is powerfully reflective for night runs. But I see online they also have tangerine/gray and raspberry/gray as options. I’d probably have gone with a different color if they had more options in the store. But since I only use my Pure Connect for running on the treadmill (so far) they haven’t gotten too dirty.

I found out that the style I chose is actually a minimalist shoe. It is meant to really give you a feel of the road as you run. Doesn’t that sound awful? Because even though there isn’t a lot of bulk to the shoe, the cushioning is amazing. Plus, there is a “seam/split” between the toe and the rest of your foot that allows for so much flexibility, that the shoe isn’t forcing your foot into a certain position as you run. Instead, you can run in a way that your foot is meant to flex and run. I can see why they do compare it to barefoot running, in a way. But unlike barefoot running, it has a lot of cushioning so your knees aren’t getting too banged up as you run. And I haven’t gotten shin splints since I put them on!

It does have a mesh upper, which I swore I’d never buy after seeing my husband tear through two pairs of shoes with a mesh upper (Reebok Brand) within a few wears. But maybe I am just easier on my shoes, because mine are still perfect, no impending or beginning tears. And the mesh upper let’s my feet “breath” during my “easy” runs. (Ha! I am sweating like a wild horse after just 2 miles!)

The only other thing of note is that I have to emphasize these are running shoes. I can do a fast walk and jog in them. But the way they flex with my feet is too bouncy and odd for day-to-day wear. Plus, I don’t want to put too many miles on them, since you do need to change running shoes after a few hundred miles. The Pure styles have a lifespan of 250 – 300 miles.

I highly suggest reading the reviews of all the Pure styles at BrooksRunning. Serious runners have even more input and may be able to help you choose the right Pure style running shoe for you. I do think I’ll try Pure Cadence in the future and maybe even Pure Connect, just to get a feel of the different shoes and make sure I am choosing the right one for me. But as a beginner runner, I think PureConnect is making my runs easy and possible!

It’s that time of year again! Where people with glasses will be working to keep their eyes protected during visits to the local playground, outdoor play dates, the beach, theme parks and more. And during that time I am sure you will manage to lose or damage a few pairs – maybe at the beach when boogie boarding? (Yes, I am speaking from experience!) So stock up on frames when you can … and right now Zenni Optical has an awesome, affordable promotion going on. Buy 2 Get 1 Free when selecting from any of their eyeglasses!

Zenni Optical’s amazing selection includes bifocal, progressive, full rim, half rim, and no rim glasses – and almost the complete online collection can have tint added to them to keep your eyes from comfortable in bright sunlight. And the savings are unbelievable! Where else can you get $6.95 prescription eyeglasses? The tint is just an extra $4.95.

As an FYI, the tint is permanent, not a photochromic lens that changes shades according to the amount of sunlight. But the tint is cool, letting you choose the percent and color you want. Options include Amber, Grey, Green, Pink, Blue, Purple, and Yellow. If you want a good, dark lens for the bright outdoors, go with the 80% gray. 50% tint is medium light that can be used mostly outdoors, with some indoor use. The lighter percents and color options are mostly for “style”. And remember, all of Zenni Optical’s glasses, whether tinted or clear, will protect your eyes from harmful UV rays thanks to their 100% built-in UV protection.

So make the most of this crazy Spring-time deal before it goes away! You finally have the freedom to buy a few different styles to match any of your moods. Or simply have back-ups “just in case” you lose another pair during Spring Break fun! (Parasailing, anyone?) Either way, buy 2 and get one free at Zenni Optical now!

Sunglasses have become a mainstay in the world of accessories. The fact that they combine both utility and style makes them extremely popular. Sunglasses were originally used strictly for eye protection. It was during the 1920’s, when extremely bright lights were used in a black and white film, that actors first used sunglasses in order to see a clear image. The actors then began to wear sunglasses when not filming to be more comfortable. Just like today, their fans imitated the look.

The technical purpose of sunglasses is to shield the eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays but they also provide comfort for the eyes by reducing glare and preventing the wearer from having to squint in bright light. Polarized lenses offer the best protection from glare. The two main materials used in lenses are polycarbonate and glass. Each offers excellent protection for the eyes, but high-end sunglasses usually have glass lenses. Although they are heavier and break more easily, they don’t scratch as easily as polycarbonate lenses.

Sunglass frames come in a multitude of styles and materials. They can be plastic or metal and just about any shape or color you can imagine. Some of the most popular sunglasses in the past five years include aviators and wayfarer styles. A metal frame that is flat on the top and curved along the bottom distinguishes aviator glasses from other styles. Aviators usually have dark lenses as well. The original design was made for pilots, lending to the name aviator. Over time the look caught on with the general public. Wayfarer sunglasses are another example of a classic style that has withstood the test of time. Since the 1950’s wayfarers have come in and out of favor, reemerging recently as a popular style.

Okay, so last summer I lost TWO of my favorite sunglasses while enjoying the waves and sun out by Daytona. One of them just disappeared during our nightly walks, while the other went buh-bye while I was boogie-boarding.

So I kept looking around for another pair of sunglasses (or two) that I thought would fit my face nicely, but really was having a lot of trouble finding a pair I liked at a price I was willing to pay. After all, I am play-date crazy – often out and about with my 4 year old. There are many opportunities for me to lose or break high-end sunglasses. So I prefer economical sunglasses with fashion appeal.

I ended up buying some cool-looking sunglasses at the mall kiosk, but although I loved their look – they HURT right behind my ears. So it was hard for me to protect my eyes from UV rays and shade my eyes from the sun’s glare, when the sunglasses kept an uncomfortable pressure on my head.

But then I was introduced to the newest line in women’s fashion sunglasses – Dea. The Dea line is manufactured by Fatheadz, the leading eyewear maker that caters to men with all sizes of heads. Dea offers women comfortable sunglasses and prescription eyewear that are fashionable, fun and classy—for all sizes. Women can currently choose from 12 Dea styles, each coming with their own microfiber storage bag that doubles as a cleaning cloth. What I love about the website is that it shows “real women” wearing the glasses, so you have a better idea of what the sunglasses will look like on YOUR face. It’s not just a picture of a pair of sunglasses on a white backdrop.

I ended up receiving two pairs to try, because I honestly had trouble choosing. Online I was in love with Jacke-O and Knockout. Knockout had more of a streamlined, cool look to them. Meanwhile, Jack-O was more sophisticated, in my opinion. In the end, I love Jacke-O more for everyday wear. But I like Knockout when I am wearing winter or summer hats. Funny how that works out, right? below are pictures of ME in my Dea sunglasses.

The Jacke-O sunglasses had polarized lenses,to reduce glare from reflective surfaces. Knockout had impact resistant lenses, which rock when I am playing hard with the kiddo. Be sure to check out the details on the glasses you are interested in for features like those. All their stats are located on their individual pages, along with the material they are made off, dimensions and more. And if you like the sunglasses my son is wearing, they came from EyesCreamShades.com – they have an awesome selection of children’s sunglasses!

Here are the sunglasses, as seen from their site.

Jacke-O is currently available for $37.75. Knockout is available for $31.95. Dea eyewear are priced from $29.95 to $79.95. You can find both Dea women’s sunglasses and prescription eyewear online at http://www.deaeyewear.com. Dea eyewear can also be purchased at Walmart Vision Centers and Canadian Walmart Vision Centers.
